Uconnect 5 Radio is asking for a code and S/N on module is damaged

I bought a used Uconnect 5 radio module from eBay. It seems to be working, but it is asking for a radio code. I tried to get the SN so I could purchase it online, but it look like the used parts place wrote over the SN with a paint pen that destroyed the ink. Is there any way to get the serial number of the unit from AlfaOBD or the 12” Uconnect screen?

That’s a tough one. Your only other chance might be to get the donor VIN of the truck it came out of, and go down to the dealership parts department, explain the situation, and see if the parts guy will pull it up for you.

Thanks Jimmy. The seller agreed to take the module back. I will make sure I purchase one with an easy to read label.
