Uconnect 3 Hosed After AlphaOBD

I was playing around with AlphaOBD yesterday to set some other settings on the BCM. I think where I may have gone wrong was setting too many at once as well as nott waiting the five minutes or so to let things soak. My radio is now exhibiting odd behavior and I can't get it restored. I even backed out the BCM settings I had made and reset the radio settings to default through the radio menu and it is still messed up. The BCM settings I set were:

- Tire Fill Alert
- Selectable Tire Fill Alert
- Vehicle Theft Alarm (two settings for this)

The radio now has these (at least) issues:

- Does not recognize the USB port/drive (message: USB Port Not Working). The USB ports still power my phone, and my phone still asks to Allow data transfer when I plug it in, so the ports are active.
- Tuning is odd. For AM when you turn the knob it skips ahead 9 instead of 10.
- For Sirius many of the channels are gone when you click ALL. And you cannot direct tune to a channel - you hit the numbers but they don't register
- For Direct Tune for AM and FM several of the numbers on the keypad are grayed out.
- Any tuning presets are gone.

Another odd thing - I did actually have the Tire Fill Alert set, then for some odd reason kept playing around with it. After setting it again I did see it in the Settings menu, but it was spelled Tyre Fill Alert. Then, after another round of playing with it I had the setting set but it wasn't in the menu. That may have been the point at which the radio was already out to lunch. Yes, I tinkered a little too much, I think.

So, basically, what did I screw up and how do I fix it? I couldn't find the procedure to reboot the Uconnect 3 system, but I did read about pulling the fuse to remove power for a reset. Any ideas will be appreciated Thanks!

Did you capture the System ID info BEFORE you started?

Do you have the log of what you changed?

- Tire Fill Alert
- Selectable Tire Fill Alert

I don't know why you would mess with these, they're already enabled in the radio. You do have to turn them on in the radio menu each time you fill (and engine must be running).

ETA: I didn't notice at first Uconnect 3 so this may not hold true...

- Vehicle Theft Alarm (two settings for this)

Not sure why/what, but if anything is going to mess up a Uconnect, this is probably it.

Try to pull the battery neg cable (both) for 15-20 minutes, then let the radio sit for a few hours or more.

I have the change log. Didn't capture the System ID beforehand (I know, not smart), but have since. I did as you suggested, but did start and move the truck about 20-30 minutes after reconnecting the negative battery cable. The radio came on and I shut it off. It has sat since for about four and a half hours. Just checked it, still the same. I will probably go through that exercise again, letting it sit undisturbed for longer.

As for the changes, yes I did not have Tire Fill Alert before. I had read where others have enabled that and the Vehicle Theft Alert with success and figured, why not? I am beginning to wonder if it has anything to do with not waiting and letting the truck sit after committing the change, since it does affect the radio's menu. Can it be similar to interrupting a firmware update, getting undefined results? After the VTA was enabled I locked the doors with the fob and it behaved as stated in the owners manual - armed in about 15 seconds, then the light on the dash just blinked. It disarmed with the unlock button.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, and I will try it again if this time doesn't work. I am hoping a trip to the dealer isn't necessary, as I'm afraid it will cost me since this was of my doing. And, I am hoping there are no warranty implications. I don't know if they have a way of figuring that I messed with the BCM - I'm guessing so - or if they'll just think it crapped out on its own.

It almost seems as if the radio is in some other kind of mode or configuration, as if it reset to some default before being configured for the truck. Just a guess...

Can you post your current system ID along with the change log? Did you change any of the special packages, specifically, the VehConfig 2 special package?
This can’t be caused by not waiting between changes, and I’m not sure why that myth was even started. You can make changes one right after another. After it says “procedure complete”, press start a second time, and it will show you that the setting was changed.
This is the 5” radio you have, right? After the battery disconnect, make sure you drive it around a few times, and give it some time in between drive cycles.

"I did see it in the Settings menu, but it was spelled Tyre Fill Alert."

With the "tyre" thing and the different channel separation on the radio it sounds to me like your Jeep thinks it is British.

Yes, 5" Radio. I didn't change any special packages, at least not deliberately. There was one setting related to Selectable Tire Alert that was under Cust. Set. Menu 3: Tire Fill Alert Enable/Disable CSM Present, but I tried it and it said it wasn't supported. It doesn't show up in the log. I've attached the System ID as it stands now. I have driven it a few times, with time in between, and it hasn't changed. I thought I also had an issue with my phone, as the other person couldn't hear me on a call, so I unpaired it and it still didn't work. I restarted the phone and re-paired it, and all is good.

If you have to take it to the dealer, act like a former vice president with dementia.
Lol.. I doubt I can pull it off like him.

That's kind of what I was thinking. It's as if it's configured for a different country. So, I just looked it up and found this:

Medium wave (also known as Medium frequency (MF)), which is by far the most commonly used AM broadcasting band. In ITU Regions 1 and 3, transmitting frequencies run from 531 kHz to 1602 kHz, with 9 kHz spacing (526.5 kHz - 1606.5 kHz) - Which is exactly what it is doing now.

Explanation of the regions:

Region 1 comprises Europe, Africa, the former Soviet Union, Mongolia, and the Middle East west of the Persian Gulf, including Iraq.
Region 3 contains most of non-FSU Asia east of and including Iran, and most of Oceania.

So, it is as if it was defaulted to one of those. Now, how to get it back. I may disconnect the battery tonight and let it sit until the morning, then let it sit after reconnected.

Thanks all for the responses!

Something is definitely wrong with the country code. This is a sample of what I see when I open your BCM log -
LbTwM7I.jpg

What do you have ECUConfig 3 Country of Destination set to? It should be United States of America.

Sorry about that. I saved it as a PDF from Word since it wouldn't let me post it as a text file. It looks like it's trying to open it as an image. My browser does download it as a PDF. As for Country of Destination I did notice that and almost specifically asked:

ECUConfig 3:
Configuration Messages Status 3: Not Programmed
Rear Camera Present: No
DRL Customer Setting Option Present: No
Power Inverter Present: No
Front Park Assist Present: No
Front Heated Seats Present: No
Front Ventilated Seats Present: No
Country of Destination: World

However in VehConfig 1 there is this:

VehConfig 1:
Model Year: 2019
Vehicle Line: DJ - RAM 2500
Country Code: USA

I did look at the option for Country of Destination and did see a list of countries including United States of America, so it did make me wonder. I wasn't brave enough to try changing it without learning more about it. Also in that list it has Power Inverter set to No, and I do have the 115-volt Auxiliary Power Outlet and it is working. In fact any setting in the System ID with the word Inverter is set to No, so I figured that must be something else.

I don't know how that would have gotten changed. I wouldn't have messed with that setting. Could it have changed due to some other setting being modified?

Not sure, but it’s happened before. Change that back to United States and see if I can get a new legible log. Since you don’t have your original, we can pick apart your options by your VIN, and I have a few logs I can compare yours to to see what other settings might have changed.
The inverter statuses might have automatically changed because the 120v outlet options aren’t an option for those other markets.

I have the text and it is completely readable. Is there a way I can get it to you? I have it as a simple text file.

Thanks so much Alison!

You could use file.io and send the link via private message. They expire the data in 14 days by default or when someone goes to the link and downloads the file. Poof, gone.

You could blank out your VIN first if you're concerned about it.

I didn't have any issue with the pdf and even saved it as a text file after opening in Adobe.

Ok, thanks. We ended up PM'ing and he stepped me - the IT person - through sharing the text file on Google Drive. I guess if it were up to me I'd send it on a 5.25" floppy, because I'm old by IT standards. Anyway, thanks!

Lol, even better.

Ok, thanks to @Jimmy07 the radio is back to normal. He found that I had a bunch of settings that were wrong and he gave me the correct values for them. What I don't know is what caused them to default back to what they were. So, all is good now. Obvious moral of the story here - read your System ID BEFORE making changes. Where did I hear that before??? I will be making a copy of it after any time I change something. Thanks to all for your help.
