This updates the DASM module to version 56029827AG.

I have driven my truck 23,000 miles, and only twice has the truck unexpectedly applied the brakes and displayed the FCW. It happened when there was absolutely nothing in front of the truck for miles, so I thought it was a bug or a bird that tripped the sensor, but apparently this is a sporadic software glitch.

Radio and Back-up Camera Enhancements

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customers may experience one or more of the following:
• **Radio display screen flickers.
• Clock loses 6 seconds per day (JL with 5 inch screen).**
• Green horizontal lines on back up display, in reverse (If this is the customer concern use camera LOP 18-60-02-W2, on DT and JL vehicles only).
• Ghost Touch, features, modes and App’s changing without drivers input.
• Speaker pop noise when using Bluetooth device.
• When vehicle is first start the radio will reset and the time display shows 12:00.
• Audio distortion and volume fluctuation.
• Blank rear camera image in reverse (If this is the customer concern use camera LOP 18-60-02-W2, on DT and JL vehicles only).
• Audio distortion (KL vehicles).
• Audio cutting in and out during memory recall.
• Ring tone too loud.
• AM/FM volume fluctuates.
• While in CarPlayT or Android Auto GoogleT maps showing wrong location.
• Phone disconnected after first call.
• Black screen or White screen with vertical lines.
• Personal Identification Number (PIN) clears and volume locked while KeySense is used.
• Audio static while in SXM/SAT modes.
• Echo heard during Bluetooth phone calls.
• The radio is locked up.

Circuit Intermittent and/or P203F - Reductant Level Too Low set.

DISCUSSION:
Several reports have been received of vehicles in the field setting DTCs P203E and/or P203F.
Many of these vehicles were located in areas of extreme cold, or in areas where the temperatures
can go from extreme cold to warm in short periods of time. An analysis of returned parts from
several of these vehicles has shown a high rate of No Trouble Found (NTF). Further analysis of
information returned from the field, has narrowed down the cause into 3 possible scenarios.
• Scenario #1 - DEF Tank Overfilled.
• Scenario #2 - Residual Ice in the DEF Tank or Covering the Level Sensor.
• Scenario #3 - DEF Crystallization Covering the Level Sensor.
NOTE: If you encounter a vehicle with the above condition, please review each scenario
below, and repair accordingly prior to replacing any parts.
DEF Level Sensor Operation:
The DEF level sensor is new starting in the 2019 Model Year. The new design level sensor uses an
Ultrasonic Frequency (UF) signal to detect the proper fluid level. Previous model years use a radio
frequency type sensor which operates differently, and can be less accurate.
In order for the UF level sensor to operate properly, it is crucial that there is sufficient air space
between the top level of the fluid, and the top of the DEF tank. DEF tanks are specially designed to
have an air space above the fluid, which is crucial for the level sensor to function. Without that air
space, the UF signal cannot be returned to the sensor properly leading to a “No Echo” condition.

present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further
with this bulletin.

If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
Hands On Steering Wheel Message In EVIC

Discussion: On vehicles equipped with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), a driver may experience a message on the cluster display instructing them to "Place hands on steering wheel" when their hands are already on the steering wheel and LDW is on.

This can occur and doesn't indicate an issue with the vehicle or any ECU.

Hands on steering wheel detection sensing is done by monitoring driver torque on steering wheel over a period of time. Driving on straight and flat roads does not require much steering torque input from the driver and can trigger a warning to "Place hands on the steering wheel". During this warning if a small steering wheel movements is detected the message will no longer display.

  • 9-13-21 truck in for various repairs. issue noted.
  • 9-16-2021: Dealer called to say there's a flash available. I will update the TSB post when I know more.
  • 9-17-2021: Received vehicle back with labor Op code 18-20-09-94 - Flash DASM with latest code (found in TSB 18-012-20)

I wasn't able to find the specific TSB, not do I have the DASM firmware code level, but it appears this TSB was upated or rolled up into a large TSB for park sense, FCW braking, lane sense issues, etc.

The customer may also notice one or more of the following:
• Idle Instability.
• Harsh downshift clunk during exhaust brake deceleration.
• Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) gauge erratic when DEF level is low.
• Stall when putting in reverse in cold ambient temps.
• Engine stumble during engine warm up.
• Unstable idle when AC compressor cycles.
• Engine surge felt while driving (Sales Code ETM).
• Idle fluctuation.

This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 18-102-22 REV. A, date of issue August 10, 2022, which should be removed from your files. All revisions are highlighted with **asterisks** and include DTC, additional software enhancements and LOPS.

This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update (RSU) 21027, date of issue March 05, 2021. All applicable RSU VINs have been loaded. To verify this RSU service action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP or perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. All repairs are reimbursable within the provisions of warranty. This RSU will expire 18 months after the date of issue.

NOTE: This calibration update is only for vehicles that have had the updated CP3.3 design High Pressure Fuel Injection Pump installed. All other calibrations to support the CP4 design pump have been deactivated. DO NOT perform this calibration update unless recall Y78 has been performed first.
