Has anyone upgraded the radio. I ordered parts but am wondering if the 8.4 radios are the same between models? Can you put a 1500 radio in a 2500?

I’ve looked into infotainment.com but just can’t pull the trigger on the price. Are you outsourcing from different venders? I’ve heard of fewer problems with the 8 than with the 12 as well.

More doodads to attach to the 12 inch than the 8.4. So I'm thinking less issues and easier to install?

I ordered everything from mopar. When I get it in I'll verify all the part numbers. It was $400 cheaper that way. I also ordered a connector from infotainment. I'm certain the vent bezel is correct and the center bezel for tradesman. I had questions on the 8.4 display there are so many numbers. Mopar might also offer a kit but I pulled the trigger on individual pieces cause. I didn't have anyone to ask. Their website shows the radio and center bezel circled but don't know if that means you get both for that price if so I would have save another 200.

I’d really love to do this. I wish they had a trade in offer. Just to help on price. It’s just so pricey for me. Is there any perks that you discovered once you had it installed that you didn’t know about

If you don't mind can you give a ballpark number regarding cost?

I purchased 8.4" radio with bezel and center piece from a car parts website for around $600. The centerpiece was different so I need to purchase correct one for around $250. Now I have 8.4" for around $900 total including shipping cost. Worth every penny. I just couldn't stand back up camera so small

That's the reason why I want to go to the 8.4.

BTW I would like to thank Jimmy for all his help. I don't know his profession but he is like a undercover RAM engineer to me.

That’s cool that it can be added, you guys will love it.
I have a tradesman with the 8.4 and the color gauge cluster center screen display. Apple car play / google maps etc. are what make the 8.4 really shine.

Funny I have the 8.4” uconnect, but I have the floor shift 4x4. Really a special truck, I love it.

I finally got it, put it in and everything works! You can modify the original a/c bezel. Only difference was two small notches that can easily be made with a dremel or grinder. Very self explanatory when you go to mount the new black radio bezel into it. Which means this install can be done for a lot less. I'll put together part numbers.IMG_20210111_181108.jpgabove is the original ac house notice the square bump.IMG_20210111_181118.jpgand this was the new a/c bezel I bought. Notice how the bump has that grove cut in it.
Also there is a plastic backing plate that sits behind the radio and supports it. The new radio is larger. I made it work by elongating the mounting holes but I will see if I can identify a part number for that.
The Radio powered right up and sounds alot better too. I wasn't really expecting better sound but very happy I got some.IMG_20210111_193853.jpgi did upgrade my a/c bezel to a nicer model with aluminum trim and some grey squirly crap on top...lovin' it.IMG_20210111_181212.jpg
