Terrible Towing pics thread

Automobiles have become a throw away cottage industry. Wonder how many if not all of those were deemed totaled in a collision.

Saw this at the RV park at Overland Expo this weekend. That poor rear axle. This thing was over capacity as soon as that camper went in, assuming the camper and truck are completely empty and dry. Forget the trailer tongue weight.

That rear axle is not over weight according to AAM but going by rams sad numbers yea it may be close but with the jeep on the back of the aluminum trailer i doubt there is much tongue weight with that.

Hard to tell from the pic, but the Jeep is slightly forward of center on the the axles, and the box on the front of that trailer is basically a mini-RV, with AC and everything. I bet it’s not light.

That Eagle Cap weighs in at 5k empty, and nearly 6.5 loaded up.

The axle may not be over AAMs rating in a vacuum, but the setup is definitely far over what it should be on that truck. Ram’s numbers take into account that there’s a frame, suspension, and brake system at play as well.

Several of those bent frame dually photos we’ve all seen are this same camper. This beast really needs to be on a 4500/5500.

Yea, I'd say that owner is playing with fire unless the frame has possibly been reinforced adequately. If that's really even feasible.
Thats a good point, yes it is feasible to reinforce the frame but if going through those lengths its better just to get a C&C which has a tougher frame already but you lose the box which sucks for everyday use
