Yes, my 3500 is currently in the shop due to the service air suspension light. It has come on twice before but always reset once restarting the truck. This time it didn’t and I wanted it documented so I dropped it off. There was a stored code that they cleared, the csaid it wasn’t an active code so they wouldn’t / couldn’t do anything. I refused to pick it up since I have a trip planned to the Daytona 500 with my fifth wheel so the service manager drove it and the light came back on immediately. Now they have replaced the air compressor and it still isn’t fixed. They seem to be guessing. I’ll update once I know more.

Hi Chaps3500, sorry to hear that your dealer is having trouble trying to rectify this concern for you. Please know that we are more than happy to get you connected with a case specialist for an additional layer of support if you continue to address this with your dealer.

Mine said it was a computer update, hasn't come back on since.

Hi outdoorfun002, thank you for following up to share this update! Should you experience this or any other concerns down the road, please do not hesitate to follow up with us via private message. We are always happy to help.

I had this with other towing related issues, turns out the module that controls all of these functions was replaced on my truck before it was sold new to me. Apparently the module connector wasn’t fully seated during repair and didn’t show a fault until I hooked a trailer up. Point is, it might be something small and easy to fix.

Double check your fuse box and make sure all your fuses are pressed in. I think the air suspension was number 87 or 97 (I don’t remember). Had the same until I pressed it all in.

+1 for checking the fuses. I tow our 19k lb fifth wheel regularly and the service air suspension came on for the second time in five months recently after disabling the air suspension to unhitch. The error didn’t clear after a few restarts like the first time. I checked fuses 05, 50, and 87, which are related to the air suspension according the the manual, and reseated them. At least 50 and 87 (both micro) went in about 1/16” more than how they came from the factory. I was surprised this is all it took, but the error did not come back on on the next restart. I thought it was going to be more serious, but thanks to this forum for the time being I’ve avoided yet another trip to the dealer.

good to know info. This is the number one thing I've been wondering about since I got mine 4.5 months ago. No problems now with our 13k fiver as its a light weight for this truck, but we full time RV and we plan in buying a 48' luxe fiver next year and the gvwr on that is 25,999, yes, just under the 26k. So that tells me pin weight will be +or - 5200 lbs. So that's a pretty good chunk of weight. I don't take much stock in pl weight as that would be my max with out all my tools and boxes and hitch, so more than likely ill be about 6-800 over pl but I'll be good on gvwr and gcwr and 9750 rear axle rating. I'm just wondering how the rear air suspension is going to handle 6000lbs. At what point will it throw the code and when it does what happens, does it disable all together or just lift back up to normal riding height, or worse, the unknown. one would assume if the axle is rated for 9750, that means 9750 is the weakest link back there, so the bags SHOULD be able to hold 9750. Could a would a should a, the unknowns, erghhhhh

FWIW Rich, I know someone with a 2018 Ram 3500 DRW HO with the rear air suspension towing 24.5-25.5k. Same manufacturer as our fiver, but at least eight feet longer at 40-42’. I don’t know his exact pin weight, but probably closer to the 20% mark. He’s happy with the air bags and hasn’t ever mentioned a problem.

Posting an update after a year without any issues....got the same “service air suspension” evic message for no reason other than parking on uneven pavement and it got really cold overnight. Message stayed on for a few days even though the truck was used extensively. Reseated fuses 50 and 87. Got in truck, started her up, hit the alternate trailer height button and heard the air pump cycle. Truck lowered. Issue resolved.
Just posting this here in case others run into the same issue and don’t want a dealer trip.

Yes. I have a 2020 Ram 2500 . Bought it last July along with new 5 th Wheel. On maiden trip air suspension service message appeared. On return trip again. While at rest stop the right rear air suspension bag blew out. Limped home. Took to dealer and a week went by before all was replaced, all under warranty. On the second trip recently the air suspension service appeared. Have appointment next week at dealer.

I found this forum via Google when looking for a reason that my 2021 3500 air suspension quit. Thank you for this conversation! After looking for blown air fuses, I checked the rest of the fuses for full insertion. I was able to fully indent every fuse in the box and most of the relays were not fully seated either. The suspension was correcting height before I could even get in the cab to start up the truck. It's kinda scary to think what else could come loose at the most inopportune time. Thanks again.

Check your fuses. Read my post below yours. None of my fuses were fully inserted. Hopefully easy fix.

What was your pin weight and payload rating for the truck?

Hopping in here with only a 1500 *ducks* but similar air suspension problem. Definitely an audible leak in my front right that popped out of nowhere, truck only has 4K miles on it and I haven’t done anything but road driving… fuses are all seated properly. Compressor just keeps running and the front is bouncing around like crazy. Errors say “Service air suspension immediately” and “suspension system cooling down” - and it’s basically un-driveable but the dealership doesn’t seem to care. Have dodge roadside coming to pick it up tomorrow but local dealer (Hendrick in Charleston) is being a real pain to work with… can’t actually look at the truck until 2-3 days from now, no loaners or rentals, so my $72k work truck is just sitting there and I guess I have to rent my own vehicle to be able to make it to work. I own a couple restaurants and bars so drive around a lot… so this sucks not having my brand new truck for probably a week with a weekend in there… love this truck so much and thought Ford service was bad… until now. :/ any help from the Dodge rep I see poking around on here is greatly appreciated. TIA

If needed, you can PM @RamCares to assist on your behalf.

P.S. It's kind of funny that everyone feels compelled to use the price of the vehicle to justify whether or not you get good service from a dealer/mfr. Stuff happens, things break, and there's only so many hours in the day.

Update: Yesterday again for about the third or fourth time in the last 6 months randomly the air suspension warning came on at a start up. Not trailering or heavy load, just normal daily use. When this happened a regular restart would not clear the code but if the truck sits for at least 15 minutes between restarts the warning would go away with no other action taken. Yesterday was different, so I planned on getting to the dealership this morning at opening to have them scan the truck and was preparing to be without my truck again for another 5-10 days. Just for kicks I checked the fuse box for the loose fuses as the other posts on this thread recommend. Sure enough every single fuse in the box was loose, (not just air suspension). I pushed all of them back in to seat them properly and restarted the truck, but had no change… so I gave it one last try, I fully removed both f50 and f87 fuses for about 30 seconds, reseated them, restarted the truck, and then warning was gone and air suspension works fine. I put the suspension through multiple cycles with no issues. I will update if the warning comes back, but for those out there with this issue, try this procedure before wasting a trip to the dealership! Has to be a vibration / heating and contraction issue with these fuse boxes, because I have been in the fuse box before and they were not this loose from the factory. As for the ongoing issue, I know sometimes the modules just need a full reboot, like all tech, things lock up and need to be restarted to clear up the issue. Maybe there is an issue with my air suspension control module though and it will give up completely just out of warranty. (Will be my luck). But because every time I bring it to the dealer and tell them about this issue they say since the light is gone they can’t do anything for me because there are no stored codes.
