Good morning,
Fairly new to the site but did make a post a month ago when I first dropped my 23' Ram 2500 diesel off to the Ram dealer for diagnosis and repair of the motor. I was told by a few members to be patient due to the long wait times on repairs. The motor has 7,300 k on it and started to make a clicking sound that I thought was a fan but turns out the dealer says claimed its deep within the Cummins motor. It has been there since Aug 22, with no diagnosis or repair plan does this time frame seem right to anyone who is knowledgeable in this field or who has gone through a Star repair process, what can I expect here? No real communication from Ram Cares, or the dealer even when I show up at their shop. I would love some advice. This rig is my work truck and I'm just trying to have patience.

Thanks y'all ,
Palomba

really depends on the dealer + stelantis. the dealer is beholden to ram. they reach out to ram, wait and ram tells them what steps to take. then verify, then back to ram, then back to the dealer.

its a long stupid crappy process. my transmission replacement was 2 months+ so you are going to be in for the long haul sadly for a full motor replacement possibly. no telling if there is a back log for motors, let alone what all they want to verify first to confirm said motor is bad. You would have been better off if there was a window in the block.

Thanks for the feed back. Will the motor ever be the same after all of the tear down and build back up?

beyond the emissions crap these are simple motors. as long as the diesel tech is worth anything, i wouldn't worry about it. however, being so low in miles, you still have a long way to go on warranty so i would send it and see what happens.

Thanks buddy. Appreciate the insight.
