Back in February, we briefly about the growing occupation of expediting or “hot shot trucking”. While there are several different options now available to the commercial trucking world, not many people realize that RAM was actually working on building a truck for those who haul heavy loads across the country.

Baby boomers and the big rigs they buy would love this as well. No one is going to Europe for vacations anymore.

Cool truck but doesn’t the law in most states call this a “truck” because it has a pickup bed where a 5500 with a flat bed or no bed is a “tractor” and the overall tow vehicle/trailer combo length is different. In a profession that space is money the longer the trailer the more options you have to get loads and make money this can be a big deal right?

It doesn't require a CDL. But if you get over 25,999 lb gross weight, it will. "Hot Shots" generally haul lighter freight that needs to be there Yesterday or sooner.

Absolutely you can’t be 65’ total length in some state’s unless the bed is removed. So a crew cab with a 40’ flat deck is over length and will get you a citation at least and you could be shut down.

CCLB is 21.6ft long so a 40ft would be 65ft including tongue/GN frame
Here i am legal to 75ft so with my CCLB, 5th wheel and 20ft flat deck(24ft total) i am 75ft exactly also it would depend on the state you come from not the state you are driving in
