Powerwagon light bar options?

I was actually looking into this pretty extensively last night as well.

The Randy Ellis bar is way overpriced for what it is, no two ways about it. I personally don't think it looks good either, but it is one of the only options for aftermarket lights on the stock bumper.

I have seen some light bars mounted to the grill, creating brackets behind the grill (don't need to cut grill apart), like i've attached.

I think the other option for light is an A pillar mount for ditch lights. I'm thinking about doing this with the baja designs, amber LP4.
That looks great

This is in response to the setup @pyrorobert has.
So I took a closer look at the cooler and gap above the bumper today where you have mounted the LED light bar.
I can easily feel the bolts on the side that you used to mount the LED light bar.
However, best I can tell, that cooler is a transmission cooler, probably needed when hauling a heavy load or climbing hills. Looking at the complete OEM set up, the only passage I can find for air to reach that cooler is thru that small open gap that you have put the LED light bar in. There is a plate at the bottom of the gap so no air would get to the cooler from the winch opening. Also there is the grill covering that blocks any air going thru the grill to go down and thru the cooler. With the LED light bar in that gap, it seems to be blocking the majority of the air flow thru there.
That is my biggest concern of filling that gap, that it will block air flow to that cooler and render it useless.

It will be interesting to see what the temps do as you haul a heavy load or climb a big hill with the LED bar in that spot.
I'm not criticizing the mount at all. That is about the only place to do a clean mount at a reasonable cost. Just concerned about towing or heavy loads and the cooler not getting enough air flow across it.

The Baja Designs one were mentioned already, I have a set on order. Yes, expensive but there’s also still a lot of airflow with them. If you don’t use a light bar to block just that section and spread things out a little it may not be as big of a deal (I’m hoping :)

pyrorobert, no problem. I'm trying to find a good solution as well.
I'm moving on to 40 acres in the high desert next year. No street lights for miles. Lots of wild animals out and about as most of the area is not fenced in. people just fence in a little plot right around their house and leave the rest of their land open.
So I'm looking for a good bright solution for night driving for those times I'll need it.
Hello Crusty,
So I rolled under the truck this morning and yes you are correct. That cooler is for the power steering. I followed the hoses from beginning to end. I added some pictures here.

For others that asked, I added the pictures of the brackets that I made to attach the lightbar.

So just a couple of "L" brackets. Looks good.
Can you post a pic from the drivers seat with the lights on? Thanks.

One other question. Do you think one could trim the plastic filler back some and put a longer LED light in there? From looking at Baja Designs mount, it appears there are two bolt mounts in that area for the filler pannel.

Here are the photos you asked. Not sure if the pictures do it justice. I have a 50% tint on the front windshield so it is actually brighter than it shows. I think I need to do this on a darker street. As far as adding a longer lightbar, not sure it will fit as the 20" fit perfectly between the existing mounts. Plus it fit within the opening of the grill.

How did you remove the lower valance? How did you get the nuts back on in the center? Looks like the light would be in the way.

I attempted to work on the truck prior to weather coming in, but here was the result:

Use these instructions in this link below.

I followed them doing my “night edition front end swap”

There are quite a bit of screws and nuts holding in the grill. There are 3 nuts in the center bottom of the grill. I used a 1/4" ratchet with an extension and a deep socket to get to them. Once I put it back together, I hand tightened the two outer nuts and the center one, I was able to retighten it completely. The valance below the grill, I used an extension on a ratchet to reach the screws. I think the lower valance had about 8 or 10 screws on it. If you follow the instructions given, it does help. I hope this helps.

I measured the light bar and it is a little over 19inches without the bracket. Did you order the 30 inch by chance?

Mine does not fit like yours. There definitely is not another set of screws to tie into. I even tried to be creative with some other brackets I had laying around.

Help!

I won't be home for another week. I will measure it once I'm home. Interesting as I thought it was the 20" model.

Ok. I ordered and installed this one:
Led Light Bar Ultra-thin 25 Inch Led Light Bar Spot Flood Combo Driving Light Ultra-thin Off Road Lights Single Row Light Bar Super Slim Led Bar for Truck ATV, UTV, SUV, Cars (9610A-25INCH-1PC) https://a.co/d/jhA3cK5

I had to swap out the Allen keyed hardware for something a little slimmer (Lowe's had M6-1.0 and M8-1.25 hardware that worked better.) And elected for wing nuts on the bottom of the bracket to allow me to completely tighten without tool.

This bar was not as tall as the one recommended by @pyrorobert but there is still interference with the "clamp nuts" holding the faring on.

I was unable to tighten the ones higher up in the grill, but tightened the lower ones with a slim 10mm wrench. The lower valence is now held on by two bolts and 4-of-7 clamp nuts. Still pretty solid.

There is also still a bit of room for air to flow around the light bar on its way to the power steering cooler.

Overall, I am happy with how it turned out!

Well FINALLY pulled the trigger and ordered all my BD lights today. Got a set of LP4’s for the A-pillar, Squadron Pro’s for the fog lights and the seven light XL Linkable for the front. Also going to give AuxBeam a try this go around. I have always ran Switch-Pro’s, but AuxBeam came out with their IP65 rated AR-800 for about a third of the price.

Nice! I have my BD linkable front lights ready to go in my garage. Hoping I can get them installed over the next 3 weeks.
