I don't mean to hijack the thread, but curious to know if your door jam sticker is higher or lower than what the Vin check tells you on ram's site?

Mine is identical. When the VIN check actually works.

While the tow rating number has changed, the payload has always been dead right.

Just to put this into a little more perspective, here is my payload sticker for my Mazda MX-5. It says the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 340 lbs. if I am 200 pounds my passenger should never exceed 140… not including cargo. I don’t think that is going to happen.

It is not just trucks that have payload limits. Think about every sports car out there with two people in it is over payload!01143C59-B8EE-4001-AC94-FB9BB15E8380.jpeg

Yes - just be sure what they count before telling you capacity. They MAY include an estimate of 150 lbs for a driver and X number of pounds for a full tank of gas. So if that’s the case, you’d only count 50 of your pounds leaving 190 pounds for another person and/or stuff. But not a heck of a lot else!!

290 lbs more, but yeah, not a lot for a family of 4.

2500 CCLB Laramie, Hemi, 50g tank., 4.10 differentials.
Almost 17K towing capacity for a Hemi is crazy. It's definitely a stout motor. I'll probably never pull more than 10K.

BTW - the "same" truck with a 6'4 bed and standard size gas tank has a little over 3K payload.

Interesting to know what other options you have, I have the exact same truck with a 2268 lb payload. 5th wheel prep, 5th wheel hitch, and air suspension.

Mine is a "base model" Laramie - i.e. not even Level 1. But it's still a gorgeous truck compared to the old 2014 Tradesman in my profile pic. The only pleasant surprise so far (I just got it last Saturday) is the power folding mirrors. I thought they only came with Level 1 or higher...
Here's the equipment list:

Here is my original order that I ended up canceling. It had the 3.73 and no 5th wheel prep (and no 50g tank). Everything else was the same as my LB above.

I know it has been said these vehicles can handle more GVWR than the sticker. The main reason for this sticker is to keep costs down on fees to states and the fed. Plus I'm sure a few more things. Can the trucks handle more, sure. The sticker becomes arbitrary. To do it "legally" you would need to change the classification of truck. Along with always needing to stop at truck inspection scales along the highways.

A driver does would not need a CDL to operate vehicles in Class 1 through Class 6, but each one with a GVWR over 10,001 pounds has to be identified with the name of the company and the USDT number. Do as you may. My ram 2500 can haul a lot more than the sticker. Yet, I don't want to change the classification.

My wife and I take ours to Sam’s club and fill her to the brim. My wife usually gets in and I pile stuff on top of her. Lol. Hasn’t bottomed out yet.

Odd that there is a discrepancy between the website and my door sticker. 2020 2500 CCSB 6.4
