Pitch & Roll Gauges Stuck on "--" or 1° in Uconnect & Evic

So I'm having this problem with my truck that's been ongoing since the update was released that enabled the offroad pages in my truck.

Initially I only had offroad pages on my UC4 12" which only showed "--". I didn't know what the problem was, I figured maybe it didn't work because my 2019 EVIC didn't support Offroad pages.

Eventually I got a 2021 Evic and the offroad pages were there, and the steering angle/drivetrain status page works just fine, but the Pitch & Roll still didn't work on neither the EVIC or the Uconnect. The first theory was the 2019 Airbag module didn't support the correct data output for the gauges. However that's not the case since Jimmy, who has been helping me, has a 4th gen truck with the original airbag module and his offroad pages work fine.

Eventually I upgraded to a UC5 12", still no improvement, and now I've just upgraded my truck to a 12" full LCD cluster, and it's really burning me that I still can't get this feature to work, because i would actually use it now and then.

I forget when, but at some point I got some activity out of it, but all it does is get stuck at 1 degree of roll, and it stays there until i restart the truck. I also noticed that I get the speed warning when i go over 25mph that the pitch and roll do not work over 25mph.

I've been searching the RAM forums about this issue for some time, and I recently started checking the jeep forums since those guys pay a lot more attention to these gauges. I found a couple threads, with almost the exact same issue, one had the issue after using a flash tool to recalibrate his speedometer for 40" tires, another noticed the issue after his Uconnect was replaced for an unrelated warranty issue. The guy that had changed is speedo calibration said he actually fixed his by recalibrating the ABS module, the 2nd guy said he came to the same conclusion about the ABS module, but he never posted a conclusion to his issue. I tried reinitializing my ABS module over the weekend, but it didn't help.

If anyone has experienced this issue and fixed it, I would appreciate your input.

Pics of what I'm seeing:

To clarify, Jimmy's pitch/roll work with an older airbag module?

That was the reason given mine wouldn't work. Of course, my hill decent retrofit also never worked.

That's correct Jimmy's pitch and roll work with a 4th Gen airbag module.

It makes sense too, if you go back in AlfaOBD to a 2014 BCM there's an option for pitch and roll. I found it and checked it and it was already set to yes in my newer BCM. I'm not really sure why it doesn't show in Alfa under newer BCMs.

I'm wondering now if I got the hill descent control buttons if they would work on my truck or not.

@Brutal_HO I just ordered a Hill Descent Button to see if you and I are having the same issue. I really feel like all the configurations are correct on my truck, but the ABS module is sending out incorrect data, or maybe no data at all, and I want to get it sorted out.

Sorry @Brutal_HO it seems the pitch and roll gauges are independent of the hill descent control. Hill descent works on my truck. Pitch and roll gauges are still broken...

@Brutal_HO do your pitch and roll gauges ever give you 1° and get stuck there after driving for a while, then reset to "--" after shutting off the truck?

It's driving me crazy this won't work, as I've been upgrading the truck over the years I've changed several things, and this problem has persisted through all of it. Initially when I upgraded to the uc4 12" and gained access to the off-road pages pitch and roll didn't work... When I upgraded my cluster to a 2021 cluster with off-road pages, then a 2023 cluster, it still doesn't work. I upgraded to a 2022 uc5 12", still doesn't work, I've even upgraded my bcm from a 2019 to a 2022 same issue remains.

I know the Uconnect is communicating with the abs module because when I do abs module reset the Uconnect flashes that I have to be under a certain speed for gauges to work.

I've tried resetting the tire size to an OEM size and recalibrating the abs module, no joy there either.

I don't know if it's because the longitudinal and lateral sensor calibration always fails on the ABS module?

@Jimmy07 do you have any other suggestions to try out?

Since they never worked, I really don't look at them.
Understandable, if you happen to think of it one day pull them up and leave them up for the duration of a drive somewhere and see if either of them gives you 1° at random.

I'm wondering if the 2019 & early 2020 trucks have some bastard abs module that doesn't support the pitch and roll output. Unless somebody else on here has a 2019 with functioning pitch and roll gauges IDK what else the problem could be.

I did. steer angle works but p/r does not.

Yea that's what my truck does, so it's gotta be a sensor/module somewhere on the 2019 & maybe early 2020's that doesn't support the data output. Just gotta figure out which module or sensor it is.

IIRC, @Jimmy07 previously said it was the Airbag module?
Initially yes, but when I spoke to him recently he said it probably wasn't the airbag module since pitch and roll work in his 4th Gen. I don't know if the airbag modules in the 5th gens are a carry over.
