Need some help…ordered the above truck loaded except snow chief package and sunroof and I’m worried about max. payload capacity. I just bought a 5th wheel trailer and after a painful 6 months, got a 33.3 footer. I was watching my hitch weight and trailer gvwr and all of the 34/35 footers we looked at and when we bought this one (because the wife loved it and and she was just told she was cancer free), I missed checking which it (Very happy day). I don’t have the truck (ordered Feb 10th) but wanted to know if I going to have an issue with payload (I don’t want to ruin to moment with the wife).

5th wheel dry weight is 11,400 lbs, hitch weight is 2,350, GVWR 15,000lbs. (Only my wife and I in the truck and maybe some other stuff 500lbs total to be safe). It did want to add a hijacker autosliding hitch that weighs ~330lbs.

Any help would be more than greatly appreciated since I can’t check the door sticker…hope to be able to tow safely.

That truck should have a payload around 4k lbs. Tow capacity should be over 20k
One discrepancy I see on your options is that you can't get 4.10's on a srw diesel

Thank you…4K is great, got worried as some sites noted ~3560 because of the option in the limited. Funny my attach build sheet from the dealer notes 4.10 and I rechecked to ensure it’s not a dually. Either way 3.73 is fine for my towing.

Why did the dealer pick the de-rated GVWR? Normally 3500 srw's should be 12,300lbs, that lower GVWR will artificially lower your payload, unless that is a short bed only thing

EDIT: I just looked on the ram site, you can't get the 12,300 gvwr in a short bed

Weird, just went through a build and 4.10 isn’t available any longer and 3.73 is mandator. The 11,800 is also mandator…unable to change it? Maybe that’s why I do’t have a VIN yet and the order went in Feb 10.

My megacab is 12300, maybe its just a crewcab short bed thing.20220514_074039.jpg

Must be a short bed thing…8 foot allows 14000 GVWR and you can select 4.10? The 4.10 was an option when I ordered and the GVWR wasn’t. Wish they could just keep thing consistent. Do you have any idea on payload? Seen a YouTube where the truck is exactly the same a mine but Mega Cab and his payload is 3759. Do you know if CC would be higher?

looks like it’s a short bed thing…is your truck a limited with all the options?

Anyone with a 3500 Limited HO, CC, short bed have the payload from the sticker?

Do you have a POC from the dealer? I would be suspect of them submitting something incorrectly, when you pick the 14k gvwr it changes the truck to a dually, if you pick 4.10's with a srw it will change it to a hemi. I would check with your dealer to see what was actually submitted.
Are you a Canadian order?

Yes, it was a Canadian order but it clearly notes the HO and no dually anywhere. It was an option for some time?

Do you know if CC has higher payload? I know they have a higher towing rate (not much ~100lbs).

I think that's only in the 2500s but i could be wrong. I stand corrected, op i see from 3700 to 4000 in payload. I can't see you having a problem even with gear in the truck.

Thanks…looked up a few VINs from trucks online…looks like the Mega Cab has a higher payload capacit. CC is about 3500. looks like I’ll be about 100 to 200 lbs under. Just a weekend warrior. Thanks again for the help!

Wow, I saw lots of off the wall SRW numbers, DRW numbers (14K and 4.10 rear) thrown out for the OP's list.

SRW diesel is 3.73 rear end only
HO gets the 12" rear
CCSB 4x4 HO GVWR is 11,800, tow capacity is ~23K
CCLB GVWR is 12,300
Dooley is 14K

My CCLB HO Limited sans sunroof is 12,300 GVWR, payload 3707, you're likely to be ~310lbs under that based on the charts.

Be forewarned, the charts still show higher tow capacities than the VIN lookup. Not sure what's going on there. My truck used to show ~25k and change on VIN lookup, now shows ~23.5K. I think they have me confused with a short guy.

I have a very similar truck to yours and my payload is about 3700 lbs and towing over 20k. You should be fine with the 5ver you outlined.
