Got a couple of email alerts from RAM saying I had a check engine light, the check engine light is not on. Decided to run a scan and sure enough P1451 is present.

How concerned should I be and what is typically the fix?

Code P1451 refers to concerns associated with the Diesel Particulate Filter System performance. The soot load in the Diesel Particulate Filter is estimated by the ECM using the Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor values and the calculated soot output of the engine. Under normal operating conditions the Diesel Particulate Filter is self-cleaning, where accumulated soot is converted to ash. It's necessary to modify the vehicles driving routine/duty-cycle (see Owner's Manual for details) in order to allow the Diesel Particulate Filter system to self-clean. If you have any additional questions, please let us know, and we will do our best to assist where able.

Is your oil level above the full mark?

I will have to check when I get home Friday. I have been getting the truck out on the road to do passive and also completing auto regens, i have the DPF displayed on my dash religiously now. My last auto regen also gave me the keep driving on the display and ever since it completed the gage has not moved off of empty. Like I said no check engine light but the code is there.

Took my truck to the dealer today for recall and the P1451 code I keep getting alerted about. Tech said he does not know why the truck threw the code with no check engine light displayed and said he couldn't find anything wrong with DPF system. Oil level is ok. I hope I'm not going down the same rabbit hole others are already in. 200 miles between the last regen.2024_09_03 3_06 PM Office Lens.jpg
