NEW 2024 3500 Diesel 2000 miles DEAD transmission!

I had 130k on my 07.5. I serviced it at 100k and the fluid was pink and no fine metal in the magnet. I was truly impressed. When I upgraded trucks it was a good and a bad thing. I was upgrading trucks but it had the same transmission, wish it had a 8 speed but the 6 speed was good to me for 130k miles so why not get the same transmission.

I didn’t want it, for reliability reasons, which is funny to me now..lol
The Aisin is far superior. Both in reliability and overall design. Much better track record of endurance and reliability than the 68. That would have been $3k well spent but it’s water under the bridge now. Sorry to hear about your issue. I have a friend who had a 68RFE failure in his truck not long ago and he waited several months for a complete replacement. Hopefully that’s not the case with you, but Stellantis hasn’t been speedy when it comes to shelling out complete components lately.

That sucks, honestly I’ll probably lemon law it if it takes over 30 days

I got to much stuff to do this summer

I don't blame you. But that process could take some time. You usually have to go through arbitration first.

At 26K miles, the 8HP75-LCV (ZF-8HP) tranny in my 2022 2500 threw a code implying the 3rd gear sync was off. Dealer pulled the trans pan and found metal in the fluid. New transmission, cooler, and lines. Two months mainly due to supply issues. The 8HP is a solid transmission. I just had bad luck getting one that probably had metal debris from the factory.

Man, these months long wait times are crazy. I really feel for the guys that make their livings with their trucks being told that, but it can be very disruptive to anyone.

I think they are taking far to much advantage of the supply chain excuse too.

Its been 4 years they need to let that go and companies need to ramp up production

My tranny in my 2022 blew at 35,000 miles last year. Took 2 months with no loaner offered as well. Extremely frustrating situation but the new transmission has been good for the last 21,000 miles. hope you get resolution soon. I rented a 2500 pickup when they didn't provide the loaner and they paid for it when I got my truck back.

Many moons ago I had a Dodge Dakota (remember those?). It went through 2 transmission repairs in under 20k. All I was towing were trailers with motorcycles and a pop-up camper. Then we traded it on a Dodge Durango when kids came along. We were towing a 25ft TT pretty regularly. It went through 2 transmission repairs and a complete replacement in under 30k. I traded it on a 2005 F250. That transmission was solid... it towed great but was in the shop at least 4 times with the body off the frame for engine repairs to EGR, cracked exhaust Y-Pipe, etc. Eventually, all the part swaps worked and it was reliable until we sold it at about 90k.

I learned that everything breaks. Dodge didn't seem to know how to build a transmission and Ford (Navistar) didn't seem to know how to add EPA equipment to then-new Powerstroke 6.0.

The best service I ever experienced was with our diesel Jetta. It was bulletproof and got 45mpg on highway trips (pre DEF EPA crap). We had it in for a regular service and the service writer noticed that the headliner had shrunk a bit and offered to replace it for free. The car was 2 years out of warranty at that point. We had that car and my F250. I made and used biodiesel in both vehicles (the cafeteria at work would save their grease for me in 5 gallon containers I provided). The smell of french fries out of the exhaust always brought a smile to my face.

I had the transmission replaced on my BMW M5 twice.
Unfortunately these things can happen with any brand…
Best of luck to you getting it replaced quickly

It happens my first new Ford, 1980 less than 500 miles transmission failure on the way to work one morning, fluid pump bad.
Got it back 12 years and 249,000 later got rid of it. Think I put an ac comp. and alt. on it was all.
