Wife's 2015 Durango with 105k miles is making a ticking/tapping noise. I thought it was lifters so I brought it back to the used car dealership (bought it a few months ago right at 100k miles) and when I came back to pick it up they said it was the injectors, which I called b.s. They said they ran seafoam through it but it didn't sound any different. Got it home and busted out the stethoscope, probed around, and man, those are some loud ass injectors. I couldn't find any source other than injectors making noise. But you step back a few feet from the car and it absolutely sounds like lifters.
I had it checked out by a trusted 3rd party certified mechanic and he did same as me, going from almost certain it's lifters, then probing around, then being unsure.
I don't want to mess with the engine on this thing. If it's lifters I'm getting rid of it. But I don't want to jump the gun. Ill try replacing injectors first to rule that out. But I don't want to go spend money on injectors that are going to be just as loud as the OEM ones or I'll rich back in the same situation but a little poorer. Can anyone think of an injector I could try that's quieter than OEM? It's the V6, not the Hemi.
