Looking for a Part Number? Must provide VIN (only up to model year 2020 at this time)

I'd like to give back to the members of this forum for all of the help I've been given since I bought my HD earlier this year.

I've recently gotten access to a Mopar electronic parts catalog that lets me filter by VIN. In the past I've struggled at times to figure out what part I needed when I was adding options to my truck. I've ordered the wrong part a couple of times because I guessed wrong or had some incorrect info.

So, I'm not sure if anyone else here has offered the same; but if anyone is looking to figure out part numbers for their projects, post in this thread (so it might benefit others as well) send me the VIN of a vehicle that has the part you're looking for and what part(s) you're looking for. If you're wanting the same info for your VIN as to look for any overlap (i.e two different parts may use the same bolts - so no need to order extra bolts) - include that VIN as well and I'll include both lists.

I don't have a Tech Authority subscription, so I probably can't help with telling you exactly all of the parts that are needed for a specific option upgrade, but it will help to confirm you're not going to buy the wrong parts.

(edit 1: the catalog appears to only have up to model year 2021, but only VIN filters up through 2020. I'm hoping I'll be able to get it updated at some point).

(edit 2: there is a 2022 update available but it is not a free upgrade. And since I have a 2020 HD and don't have the need for the newest version, I can't justify spending the $120 it would cost to upgrade).

(edit 3: please send me a direct message for any future requests as I don't always get notifications when there is a reply to this thread.)

If I'm not explaining this clearly, I'll post an example in the following post. ↓

I do have a few for you, if you don’t mind. Looking for the rear camera that 1C4JJXSJ1MW699738 uses, vs the rear camera that 1C4HJXFNXLW336087 uses. All the catalogs I see only show one part number, but I know they must be different for those two vehicles.

The first VIN (1C4JJXSJ1MW699738) isn't populating with its sales codes so it's not filtering. I'm guessing it's a recently build 2021? I checked the software and it says it's up to date, so I guess there's a information delay from production to publishing. If you have another one, I can run it.

I included both results - the first VIN has all of the available part numbers for all 2021 JL (Jeep Wranglers) platforms since it couldn't pull the sales codes to filter, but the second (1C4HJXFNXLW336087) is a 2020 and is filtered.

How about this VIN- 1C4JJXSJ4MW634169. It’s a may build. Specifically looking at the XNY sales code (integrated trail camera). What about this part number- 04672852AB. Is XNY associated with it?

For some reason the latest update in this software is from Feb-21...not sure why. But I was able to manually filter with that sales code and it shows 04672852AB for the camera (8 in the diagram) and 68518261AA for the high mounted stop lamp wiring (3 in the diagram).

That’ll work, thanks! I came across that camera part number by accident, and it had no info for it, but that’s the one for sure.

Tailgate 68362566AH

Online vendors show it fits, just looking to verify before I order.

Looks like that since you have sales code [MGA] RAM'S HEAD BADGE, it indicates 68394211AE as the correct part number. I'm guessing there may be a cosmetic difference in the two? See attached.

Thanks. AH (superseded AF) was $20 less than AF (superseded AE)

I thought they all were embossed (all the same) and the AF or AH part shows XBS or XB9 in the description. AE shows [XBS] OR [XB9], [MGA] AND/OR [M3K].

Are the Rambox gates somehow different?

What I've gotten on one site:

68394211AE (unable to verify) replaced by 68394211AF(fits)
68394211AF (fits) replaces (68394211AC, 68394211AD, 68394211AE) replaced by 68362566AH (fits)
68362566AF (fits) replaced by 68362566AH (fits)
68362566AG (does not fit) replaced by 68362566AH (fits)

If I search the catalog for 2020 3500

1632720915700.png

So, all very confusing...

The last two letters of part numbers are just revisions, which doesn’t even necessarily mean anything was actually revised, and don’t dictate a difference in parts (ie. 68394211AE is the same part as 68394211AF).
68394211Ax is for your truck because it has the ram head badge.
68362566Ax is for a power wagon because it has the positioning holes for R A M letters.

XBS is the sales code for Pickup Box (not just a chassis) and XB9 is for the RamBox. I found a 2020 Power Wagon and checked it and it shows 68362566AG as the correct part number for the tailgate.

It is confusing. Is there a version of the 3500 (like the 2500 Power Wagon) that has the R A M lettering on the tailgate?

Not that I'm aware, but that explains the PN differences. I thought about it when I posted but was nursing a migraine hangover and forgot to add that question.

I usually try to find someone selling it with the listed part numbers that has photos posted...that will usually answer most questions. A quick search on these didn't show me anything to help clarify.

My guess is that 68362566Ax is listed because it will fit any HD, but it there won't be any non-Power Wagons with this p/n.

2020 RAM 2500 - 3C6UR5CJ2LG250260

I need to remove my tailgate when using a camper. I already purchased an extra OEM backup camera, looking for the part number for the wiring harness.

Bought this but it does not fit: 74596384

Thanks!

It looks like there's a mess of wires that might be what you're looking for but I'm not sure which one you're needing. So, attached are a few diagrams with part numbers filtered by the VIN provided. Hopefully this helps. If after looking at everything it's not clear and I need to drill down further somewhere, let me know.
