Been looking into getting a 6.4l in a 2500.  I know the current 6 speed does not do this engine justice.  I feel they need to program it more for the higher RPMs that the BGE needs.

The one 2018 I was looking at sold.  So not real sure what is next.

Now if the 2019 gets the eLocker, it will be much easier decision to make.

I'm pretty confident that you'll see the 8 speed behind the 6.4 for 2019. I'd also be surprised if they didn't offer an e-locker.

I hope so too. If for some reason it's not part of the 2019 changes, that would cause me to wait for the true 5th gen HD in 2022 in a couple more years.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The 8 speed is here!

I bet this makes Gas powered HD more popular...and is going to be a very welcome thing for Powerwagon shoppers.

The proven and smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic is the now is standard on Power Wagon. There are more than 40 individual shift maps to optimize shift points for fuel economy, performance, and drivability. The transmissions use shift-by-wire technology, eliminating a mechanical linkage between the transmission and the gear selector. The 2019 Ram Power Wagon uses Rams innovative rotary shifter mounted on the left side of the instrument panel’s center stack, frees up space traditionally occupied by a console or column-mounted shift lever.

The 8 speed is a god-send. That trans has the most beautiful shift points. Great for towing and gunning it. Best transmission ive had in any truck.
