I have a friend that has a 2020 4 door Laramie with H/O Cummins and a 12 in display. He was asking me if I knew of anyone had this problem and what may have caused it? His truck is only about 3 to 4 months old now and he hates to take it to a dealer as we all know what they will say.

The only thing I could think of was the system had just done an update until he read the codes in the system.

The following Is His Question:
" I was driving and hit the camera button and when I did the whole screen went black and I lost everything, map I had on, phone pairing info, Sirius radio, all functions. Only evic would work. Tried turning off and restarting but nothing changed. So I then thought. 3 hrs later, I wonder what would happen if I put it in reverse, if my cameras would come back on. When I did put it in reverse everything came back as it was, it was like everything was shorted out.

I got on my cheap obdll reader when I got home and did a health scan to check for codes and it through a code of " p203f reductant level to low " which I guess I's a def sensor for fluid level. My research said it can throw that code if there's an electrical short of some sort. Just like my screen going black. It said to clear codes and monitor and I did. Everything is back to normal for the moment. Thanks"

Does anyone have any Ideas? Thanks.

Update sounds plausible. I haven't seen one yet, but I recall reading that it takes long before everything is back to normal.

I wouldn't go to the dealer unless it happens again within a few weeks.

When mine updated, some time ago, it gave a message that it was successful, and all was well. The next morning we were going down the driveway, and it went dark. I thought the update had bricked it. After about 30 minutes of driving it woke up, and that was that. Mine has done all sorts of wacky stuff pretty much from day one. It often will turn on the front camera on its own without me selecting it. This usually, but not always, occurs after backing up, so when it turns off the backup camera it grabs a different camera instead of going back to the screen that I have selected prior. When it does this it is unresponsive to commands. Sometimes if I stop and put it into reverse, and then back to drive it will find itself, but sometimes it will stay effed up until the next restart. It is a glitchy SOB.

We're sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this concern. When you do have the opportunity to visit the dealer, please feel free to loop us in! If additional assistance is needed throughout your dealer visit, send us a PM. We'd be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist.
