I’m new to Ram, coming from Ford. I purchased my new Ram 3500 HD Laramie dually last Thursday and love it so far! When it comes to trucks, I’ve always stuck to Ford. After the reveal of the new HO Cummins, I thought I’d try something different this time. I love the power and can’t wait to tow my fifth wheel. I can’t say enough about the 12” UConnect system. I’m having power running boards and the two front windows tinted today.

One question...in the manual on pg. 172 it says I can show what gear I’m currently in by changing the default setting for “Current Gear”, but my Screen Setup menu doesn’t have that option. I can see the current gear if I use the + or - on the steering wheel, but it wont stay there once I power down the truck. Coming from an F350, I’m used to seeing my current gear and like that option. Any help would be appreciated.

Congrats on the new truck!

If it is like the 1500, it should show up to the right next to the odometer once it is selected..

I’m saying the option to make it stay on by default isn’t in the Screen Settings.

If you have the 7" screen that would be odd... I can check my 1500 when I get home.
Maybe someone who already has the 2500 can check for you...

I don't recall this being an option in the settings for the 2500 I have. I'll look again but I didn't see that in the manual for the truck either.

It does it can be done on page 172 like the OP stated... I just don't have a 2500 yet to go look.

I read about this same thing in another thread re: a 2019 1500 ---> https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/current-gear-display.2528/

I found this in the manual:

Linking And Unlinking The Remote Keyless Entry Key Fob To Memory

Your key fob can be programmed to recall one of two pre-programmed memory profiles by pushing the unlock button on the key fob.

NOTE:

Before programming your key fob you must select the “Personal Settings Linked to Key Fob” feature through the Uconnect Settings. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multi- media” for further information.

To program your key fob, perform the following: 1. Cycle the vehicle’s ignition to the OFF position. 2. Select a desired memory profile 1 or 2.NOTE:

If a memory profile has not already been set, refer to "Programming The Memory Feature" in this section for instructions on how to set a memory profile.

  1. Once the profile has been recalled, push and release the set (S) button on the memory switch.
  2. Push and release button (1) or (2) accordingly. “Memory Profile Set” (1 or 2) will display in the instrument cluster.
  3. Push and release the lock button on the key fob within 10 seconds.

NOTE:

Your key fob can be unlinked to your memory settings by pushing the set (S) button, and within 10 seconds, followed by pushing the unlock button on the key fob.

My truck is having AMP power running boards installed today, but when I get it back I'm going to try the above to see if that works.

Welcome. Thanks for joining us. I wish my truck would display current t gear as well.

Also wish it would hold the gear when selected. It is only a limiter and the truck will still downshift. Angry it makes me after the last 10 years driving a stick shift...never really used the gear selector on my 2013.

Hope it works.

Page 172 in the Owner'e Manual (which you need to download) does state you should be able to view the current gear
I sent an email to MOPAR to see what they say....
