2019 original CP4 no large dimple. I only run Exxon or Mobil fuel if available as I get a discount. I've read all the horror stories on the dreaded CP4. Not necessarily by choice, but twice now I should have blown my pump according to all the claims.

Around 3k miles while pulling my boat from Corpus to East TX I mis calculated my fuel usage and was on back roads. Roll into the fuel station with computer saying 0 miles till empty. Likely < 1 gallon of fuel left.

Last week my buddy was driving the truck (I'm passenger) pulling an RV. When we get the RV unhooked at home the fuel light was on and < 10 miles till empty. 9000 miles on the truck at this point. Get to fuel station sweating bullets with 0 miles left on the gauge. Again < 1 gallon of fuel left.

Two days later burn half a tank of fuel pulling the boat to Houston. No issues.

I've only ever used an additive once (PS) as it was going to be below 20°F and wasn't sure if I needed it or not. This was prior to the RV trip mentioned above.

I normally fill up when the tank hits the 1/4 mark.
I've only drained the filters once and found nothing.

Maybe I need to go to the casino and play roulette.

Happy driving guys.

Luck is luck.... sometimes it is good and well sometimes it’s C4 er CP4. You probably had a bit more fuel left than you thought. The guess to empty-o-meter is an estimate and the number on th fuel pump should tell the story. The fuel in the tank also acts like a heat sink to somewhat cool the returning hot fuel from the motor so there is that.

Its more crap than not failures are much less than these people make it out to be from everything i have read and experienced. I think of it just like the 2nd gens with the 53 block everyone avoided it like the plague because of a small percentage of failures the internet has a bad habit of blowing things out if proportion

Odds are way in your favor that you'll be fine but you're really tempting fate with this post. Might as well do a happy dance in front of your truck.
