Hello. Long time 1/2 ton Ram owner now looking to purchase a used 2018 2500 with the 6.4L. This truck will serve as both a commuter as well as weekend tow vehicle (enclosed 20' trailer...5-6K pounds in total). I found two trucks I am interested in...one with the 3.73 gears and one with the 4.10 gears. Will I be better off with the 4.10 or is the 3.73 ok? Lastly, will the 6spd trans be ok or should I hold out to find a 2019 with the 8spd. My current 2013 Ram 1500 with 3.92 gears has the 6spd and sometimes I feel like it takes too long to downshift and lugs the engine down. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 8 speed is better and 3.73 is more than enough gear for the little bit of towing you will be doing

With what you are towing the 373 would be fine . Your fuel milage will be better when empty also . 6 speed tranny makes a big difference .
