Long time listener first time caller!
I appreciate the first years posts involving 37s v 35s. Hugely helpful!
I ended up with 37” Nitto Terra’s on 17” Black Rhinos. A little rub but that and some exhaust and steps and life was good…for awhile. I should add I’m a 40 year USAF vet and professional pilot. I work hard. Two jobs. Volunteer coach. Volunteer at church. I endeavor to be a good dad and take my sons over landing. Hard to do when your truck is in the shop. For 6 months. Which is hard when your previous a Ford F-150 only made it 32,500 miles before needing a replacement 5.0 V-8. Previous Toyotas were bulletproof but that Ram. A dream truck. Highly recommended by many got my heart.

At 11 months old my dream truck quit on me. Displaying oil psi of 6-7 at warm idle and 28-30 under way it’s no surprise I got a light and took my truck in. Only to be told it would be a week to look at it. Exciting time to be alive and all the things that go with that aside…I got lucky in a good service writer who told me to swap the oil filter…so I did. No change.
Take the truck in and ask for a loaner. Nope. None available. For my $62k truck. That’s less than a year old. With a warranty. Thanks Ram. Really building your customer base.
A week later they tell me I’m good. Know what they did? Changed my oil. Tried to charge me for it. Yes the same oil change I had just performed. Then they told me I used the wrong filter. Yes the same one that they literally put in my hands.
No change. Still6-7 at idle and 28-30 moving. Took truck back. Got corporate involved and got a rental. A rental that they promised I’ll be reimbursed for…more on that later.
Over the next 4 months…cumulative 5months and 22 days they did an oil psi sensor, an oil pump (my bet…tho it seemed premature for a pump fail), and finally a long block replacement. Yep. New 6.4 in my might power wagon. My dream truck. Never meet your heroes right? Turns out it was a main bearing failure. Funny thing was it was folded in half in the photo I was sent. Never seen such a thing ‍♂️
So here I sit with a new engine and what seems only slightly worse gas mileage likely due to break in.
And I’ve been reimbursed for 30-35% of my rental costs. And now no one will call me back. I kid you not. So yeah approaching Christmas they owe me $4500 in rental car reimbursement and a few days ago tried to get me to settle with just the compensation claim thereby relieving them from paying for the rental car. Frustrating. No. Infuriating.
They did put a 100k ramcare warranty on it. And promised a “compensation claim” since staying on top of corporate, my dealership and trading out rental cars became a part time job.
I’ll update if and when I ever see my money again but hope that putting this here red flags the 6.4 and gets someone from ramcare to help me close out this nightmare ish experience.
Hope y’all have better luck with your rigs and have a very Merry Christmas!

I had a Mercedes ML550 that I bought new not make it to 2500 miles. It says right in their warranty that they would provide a loaner car in event of a breakdown in warranty and if it was over 50 miles from a dealer would reimburse for all meals. lodging etc. Never saw any of that from them either.

What a bunch of idiots, they could have cut a filter open in 15 mins and seen it was full of bearing material and went from there. That's like checking everything but the fuses first when something electrical doesn't work.
Anymore with about all companies it seems like getting anything truly warrantied you have to sue them or get on social media and call them out.... smh

Really sorry to hear about your experience. It's maddening that they act this way, figure 4 out of 5 people will give up, glad to hear you are on top of it and will make them pay. I guess the good news is you have a new engine and warranty. I haven't heard of a failure like yours in a 6.4, the engine enjoys a pretty solid reputation for reliability.

Wow that's horrible! Have you contacted @RamCares ?
I was posting here and tagging them in hopes of getting their attention. And holding the customer rententions folks accountable. I walked out of my living room this morning and walked back in to a ringing phone…picked up as they hung up. Message said hey we’re off for Christmas and sorry you got the impression we were paying your rental car bill…we need to clarify some details!?
Ummm multiple emails and recorded phone calls with my first of 3 customer retention specialists detailed I would get rental reimbursement AND a compensation claim paid at the end. Wtf!? I would’ve absolutely sold it months ago and sourced another had I known they’d pull this rubbish.
BL if anyone knows how to get @RamCares attention please let me know. This is exhausting.
Thanks guys!

Dude yes. I went to work on the service department and they explained they had to wait on corporate and go through the flow chart. Ie. Change oil. No resolution? Change oil pressure sensor. No resolution? Change oil pump. No resolution? Remove and take engine apart until you find issue. Phone in and ask to replace engine. Never mind this took nearly 6 months to complete or 1/3 of my trucks lifetime. Service guys were almost as pissed off as me. I left them a bad survey because it felt like they were at fault. When I was informed corporate was driving the process that’s when I went after them and got a rental a month in.
If @RamCares cant help I’m reluctantly selling my dream truck and getting a TRD Pro. Sucks. A lot. But at least I know it won’t fail trail side with my 2 boys and dogs.

Cummins is kind of like that I've ran into similar on off highway engines. It's like they go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible to give good service.

Yeah but that's a week or so to get back at least. It's usually 2 weeks ish ... If it was getting sampled at oil changes it would have already shown up.
My oil analysis takes 2 days to get the results back

Not bad ... If I use cat it's about 5-7 days normal unless I expedite it then it's next day but that's more expensive and kind of set it up before hand. Blackstone is good, just takes longer.

I hate to hear about what you went through. My engine did the same thing and I had to fight with Ram to get it covered under warranty. It took about a month. I fought with the dealership to get them to cover my rental while they did the work. It was a long drawn out process. Then 10 days after I got the truck back, my neighbors’ nephew got black out and wandered through the woods and stole my truck from my driveway and wrapped it around a tree 1/4 mile up the road and totaled it.

I hope Ram does the right thing and takes care of you. It was a fight for me but they took care of it when it was all said and done. Good luck and God speed.

Man I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully they took care of you and got you a nice new truck.

I just got word from @RamCares that they’re deferring to my case manager. The same one that lost my rental reimbursement check for $3060.xx then tracked the wrong check (basically accusing me of stealing because she can’t listen and/or read emails) and quit replying to me for over a week…multiple times now. I’ve been nice but it’s been nearly 7 months at this point. I’m going to give them another week then I’m going to see about engaging a lawyer I guess. I’ve got a buddy who’s familiar and is chomping at the bit to get after them. Every thing they promised me was either in an email, voicemail or on a recorded line. Or all 3. Here’s hoping they find their moral compass.

To follow up @RamCares told me a few weeks ago that my case manager had my case under control.
I haven’t heard from them in 2 weeks. The last call my wife answered and in a matter of 3-5 minutes she had her in tears telling her they wouldn’t be paying us back for the last 4 months of rental vehicles. Yes the same one they authorized me to get.
No case manager.
No case managers manager.
I left multiple voicemails and emails this week and last. No replies.
Found a good lawyer and am very thankful for my company providing us a legal plan. I hate to waste the resources but something has to give.
If you wonder why corporate America sucks this is it. They’re going to eventually have to capitulate because their lawyer is likely to bill them more than my payout will cost them.
Or they could just call me back and take care of me. Their customer. Instead they’re pissing off their number one resource and advocate to acquire more customers. I’m rambling and preaching to the choir I know but WHY!?!? It’s not rocket science!
All that to say folks…don’t buy another Ram. I sure won’t.
