I’ve been filling my truck for the last 15k outta a transfer tank with two filters. A 10 micron filter and water block and a 2 micron filter after that. I changed my filters at 15k and figured they would be mint. But they still look dirty. In the pic don’t mind the debris on the filter I had them laying outside and mowed before I took the picture

Honestly hard ''not to mind'' the dirt all over the filters from mowing your lawn on top of them.. Honestly thought it was a joke at first. Try another interval and check at 10k to see if you prefer those results or abandon the transfer flow all together as many have.

I change both my fuel filters every oil change, that is the way we do it with Over The Road Trucks and Heavy Equipment in my profession. Those filter look about average, they are doing their job and Diesels love clean fuel because of the high pressure nozzles the fuel gets forced through have very tight tolerances. CLEAN FUEL = NO PUMP FAILURES, what's a few extra dollars on a chance of prematurely changed fuel filters compared to $5-$6-$7,000 on replacing an entire fuel system because of a failure.

Well my idea was to filter it to 2 microns and water block filter so I don’t take the risk of getting trash in my tank to begin with from a filling station. I’m not always able to get fuel from the same place

Fuel stations run a 2micron filter on the pumps and the truck is 2 microns as well

Wrong and wrong ^
Specs on OEM filter says 2 microns for the 19+ the older ones were 5micron outer layer and 3micron inner layer and the filters on the pumps are 2 microns at all the shell stations family friends own from what they said it was the standard filtering

This is what most most fuel stations run around here
