I want to add a back up alarm to my 3500 for when I am pulling my fifth wheel. Ultimately have it switched to my accessory switches so it only works when I want. Any input is appreciated.

Oem back up alarm can be turned on and off in the evic

Or wire a universal B/U alarm to the reverse lights and have a relay wired to the Aux switches so the B/U alarm will only work when your switch is on. Pretty simple wiring if you go that route

These days most 5th wheels have back up lights. You could simply wire an alarm directly to the lights of the camper itself. Then it would only work when the trailer is connected and in reverse.

But most campgrounds would throw a fit if someone was backing into a lot with the B/U alarm on lol

Turned mine off in the EVIC as soon as I got home and had time to read the book. Didn't want to sound like a $70,000 garbage truck when I backed up......especially in the campground.
