Curious as to what people are experiencing with the performance of their A/Cs. It's hot here and mine doesn't seem to blow very cold.

Here's a video of comparing my 2019 Ram 3500 to a 2019 GMC sierra 1500. The GMC blows cold...

I wouldn't say I am having A/C issues, but I do think it was colder in my 2016. I am going to do a performance test on both this week with my A/C RRR machine.

I've had mine in 100 degree weather and it is fine....not super cold, but adequate I guess.

I would say the AC is barely adequate.... drove around in a 2016 Durango that I had to turn up or it would freeze me out.
I had the same complaint on my 2019 1500 Limited... long thread over there on that board...

I agree with you on the A/C capability. I purchased a 2019 2500 Limited custom order 6.4 Hemi currently only 600 miles on it and the A/C is weak at best. It will get cool but definitely not cold. I took it back to the dealer and they said they checked it and it was fine just put it on Max AC and recirculate. Again still not adequate in Texas heat. Nothing like my family honda, or sisters Ford or father inlaws F150. They get cold. I reached out to Mopar via email today to see if they have any known bug they are working on with the A/C but not confident. Anyway my two cents. This feels like a showstopper to me. My family were planning on getting a travel trailer and heading to explore West next year but this truck I don't think can handle Arizona if it can't handle Texas well. It's a shame it really is a nice truck but may have to turn it over and eat the loss. Anyway if anyone finds out anything please post hear I would really appreciate it.

FWIW, most ACs work for crap in AZ during the dry season.. no humidity means the AC really doesn't work.

Mine is horrendous too. Somewhat cool, but not cold at all. Hate hearing the fan blasting just to keep cool air moving. I've had it less than a week and started to feel desperate. It's fine when it's 70 degrees out in the morning, but in the afternoon sun? Forget about it. I was having hot flashes yesterday.

An out west trip is exactly what I was planning next summer. Going to pull the camper out west and stay for about a month. Since I have kids in school, summer is my only option.

Mine is not as good as the F150 I traded, nor my previous rams, nor my wife's durango... but, it's adequate and I have gotten used to it in the Florida heat. My "fix" will ultimately cost me some money, but, I love the truck, so, it's worth it.

Basically... morning is fine, shade is fine, afternoon with no rain is bad... So, I use the SXM Guardian/UConnect App to start the truck before I leave my office. It takes me maybe 4 minutes to get from my chair in the office to the driver's seat of the truck. By that time, the air is blowing cold even though the truck is still blazing hot. I put the windows down for a minute or 2 to at least get it down to to the 95 or so degrees it is outside, then the air cools it pretty well. I also will sometimes close the passenger vent that I can reach to push more air to me when I first crank up in the afternoon.

With the family, remote start is your friend. I haven't noticed it much on the weekends, I guess I am not starting a trip in the heat of the day most times then. Once it's cooled down it does fine. I don't notice any issues with it keeping up, it's just the time it takes to go from 110 in the truck down to comfortable.

Has anyone tried the shut-off valve hack from over in the 1500 forum? I'd like to confirm it's the same problem on the HDs before trying this. That being said, I am not exactly looking forward to having to make a modification like this on a factory order Limited. But yesterday, I had a 40 minute drive home with outdoor temps around 75 - 80 after the sun went down, and I never dropped the fan below 5 with the manual temp set to Lo.

I am going to call the dealer today, which I already know if a fruitless effort. But I feel like I need to go through the process if I have any hope of getting help.

I've got an appointment next week with my dealer, although I have no expectation they will find anything "wrong". In the meantime, I am going to pick up a few parts to see if the clamp/hose "hack" for the 1500s works on my 2500 as well.

I have the 2019 2500 Mega Cab with Dual Alternators don’t know if helps or not, but if we set Temperature to 66 or 67, it will freeze you out of the truck, or the AC slows down meaning it has hit that temperature. I only leave mine on Auto Only too. I also have dark ceramic tint because yes it’s hot in Texas but mine seems to work just fine!!

Yeah, I have the Mega with dual alternators as well, and I've been in no danger of freezing! The only time I actually felt cold is when it was 60 degrees out, early one morning, and I had the temperature set to 60 in the truck.

You have darker interior, I went with the lighter color and I also turn on seat coolers with AC and I get cold and I’m a big 235lb person. Now in my sons Ford, I stay hot.

No, I went light interior too! Problem is, my seats don't cool down very quickly because the ambient temp never cools down enough to make much difference.

I understand the light vs dark interior argument looking at the rate of cooling the cab, but I can stick my hand right up to the vent, blower on 7, and temp on 60, and the air feels...coolish. That has virtually nothing to do with the interior color.

All I have to compare to is the 2016 Sierra I just traded in. It also had ventilated (not AC) seats. My back, and to a lesser extent my butt, used to get cold enough that I rarely ever had it on high, and usually had it on low. I consistently kept the AC set to 60 (manual, never Auto) on the lowest fan level. That system was enough to cool the kids in the back seat, and that stupid system didn't even have rear vents (worst design ever, IMO).

Then, I would get it to a dealer to see what they can check, because I believe they blow cold, if they don't something needs to be fixed.. Happened on my wife's 2017 Pacifica, and they recharged the system, and then it blew super cold air. Heading to go buy a laser Infrared Thermometer to test it.
