Since when I have tried to explain the changes with the new HD I have gotten called a cheerleader, I decided to start a list of what I am disappointed in.

The first thing is no rear locker with the offroad package. And that the offroad package insists you get the chrome package.

Another is the loss of the lower console with the 4wd lever on bench seat trucks.

Another being the omission of the rear storage bins on Tradesman. This makes no sense to me at all.

The Tradesman with Powerwagon package still getting chrome bumpers.

And I am greatly saddened by the Tire Pressure debacle and the associated towing harnesses that go with the camera.

But, that 8 speed behind the 392 HEMI makes them seem so insignificant.

I never thought of you as much of a 'cheerleader', more of an optimist pointing out the good things... people find the bad easy enough on their own...

I drove through the local RAM dealer ship tonight. I know, I know it is the same truck I am driving...but man oh man is it just the right blend of power and sophistication.

I have to keep telling myself that the above mentioned things are deal breakers...and that I have already owned 2 4th Gens, I have to wait till the 5th Gen comes out.

But that 8 speed, and Powerwagon.

Just hope they get the towing issues figured out and make good on what they said...but that will probably stay a disappointment.

I may very well have had a Power Wagon by now but what's holding me back is that this new 4.5 seems to be half baked. They should have designed and built this truck with a completely new cab. Seems like it's sorta new, 2/3 rd's new, but not 100% all new. I could however be persuaded on price, I'm also thinking about a Rebel, or waiting another year till I can get a TRX. But that will be an ADM sh*te show.

Well, we're not going to see a new HD until the Classic stops selling and they retool the plant, and based on this article from last month, it isn't going to happen very soon:

I am really confused by everyone comments regarding this not being a new gen truck.

One of the only things carried over from the previous generation is the cab. YET everyone says the cab is what separates itself from the other manufactures. So if RAM changed the frame, engine, front and rear end styling, updated all electronics, added a Tesla sized screen with more cameras than a Las Vegas casino, and refined what everyone already loves about the truck (the interior of the cab) then how can everyone not be super happy with this new gen?

I personally would have been very disappointed if the mega cab was changed or possibly eliminated with the remodel of the cab. My wife is looking forward to being able to recline the seat in the back while sitting in the back with the baby. And from my understanding RAM is the only manufacture that offers anything like the in the back seats.

Rant over...

It's the appearance of the cab. When you see it, most take it at face value that it's the same. The transmission, most of the interior and the front end are the most significant in my mind. I'm warming up to it over a Rebel. Like for like options seems like a $6K difference or so. Weighing the pros and cons, jumping back and forth from to the sister forum. Not many Max Steel PW's on the lots yet.

I obviously don’t even have my new 3500 yet, but your greatest sadness is certainly mine as well considering we ordered this truck for the sole purpose of pulling a heavy bumper pull trailer.

My only disappointment is the same style of flip up trailer tow mirrors and a lack of telescopic steering. Ford kills Ram is those two areas.

I've read the complaint about the mirrors for years. I've been towing trailers for over 30 years and think the Ram tow mirrors are the best I've ever used....but that is my opinion.

I agree on the steering column. It's one thing that would make my truck better. Do the higher end trim levels have one?

No trim had the telescoping steering column, sadly.

I disagree with you regarding the chrome bumpers (that's why we get to option them). I wanted to make sure my truck had them as I hate painted bumpers. Too easy to pick up rock chips and it is hard to get bugs off without ruining the paint. My F350 Platinum had painted bumpers and I wished they were chrome.

You don't get a choice with the offroad package. You have to get the chrome. Which is fine. I just wish you had the option to keep the Tradesman black.

And I wish the Tradesman with Powerwagon package got the black bumpers from the Powerwagon, but chrome is fine again. Just wish there was an option.

This was really a nitpicky post, really just showing how awesome I think ththe 2019 RAM is...cannot wait for the true 5th Gen.

No I gave the 2019 ram 3500 in a mega cab and now telescopic steering wheel but that is most certainly not a deal breaker or even something I would concider to even complain about. It's more than comfortable with out.

I agree! It's a 5th Gen! This 4.5 BS is silly! I own the 2019 ram 3500 limited mega cab and it's all around upgraded from the 2019 new frame, engine, tranny tuning on both aisin and 68RFE, interior design and upgrades yes same cab but who really gives a eff. So anyone please explain how it's only 4.5

Yep, needs telescoping steering column.
Why? Really not sure why that's a complaint. I don't get it. Could you explain why. It's definitely not even something I would consider. I have had them in other vehicles I have owned and never used it lol. But I guess to each their own. Just like the adjustable peddles that I never EVER use after the first time it's set.

When I drive long distances, I like to move the seat back. I can't with my new Ram because the steering wheel doesn't move. And, it just makes for a more perfect position when driving. And I agree about the pedals, but, the steering is the same, once set, forget about it. Ram doesn't offer the opportunity to adjust it. Not a deal-breaker, but what is wrong with it?
