Yes, to do the wireless car play and Android Auto it takes additional internal hardware. It can not be added with a firmware update to older hardware that lacks the components to support it.

I’ve seen on one site, which I can’t find again, that showed their daily production in Mexico.
The numbers are all over the place. 700-1200 built per day. Monday-Saturday. Guess it depends on how many issues they come across each day.
