2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I went with a HEMI 3500, I don't plan on towing more to than 10-12k but wanted the payload for a 5er if needed. I also didn't want to deal with diesel and can't justify the extra $10k.

If needs change in 4-5 years I'll trade up to diesel ...or whatever is powering trucks by then.

That’s been my thought as well. I’m more worried about payload (pallets of shingles and building supplies) and very rarely tow anything more than my duck boat and trailer which is around 3,000 lbs. I’m also in a great equity position with my 2020 1500 where I’ll come away with about 18k when I sell it. My plan is to put down 7k and bank the 11. If I need to upgrade a couple years down the road because my needs change it won’t be a problem. But I don’t see the sense in putting all my equity down to get the Cummins payment where I want it to be if I don’t really need a diesel. But I do love the sound of a Cummins whistling by!

Yes the AVF package comes with a wired camera. Also it looks like you can’t option both the XN1 and AVF packages. They look mutually exclusive. The open question is if you can get the XN1 rear camera to show up on the digital rear view mirror. I am thinking you won’t be able to but still needs to be confirmed. I am getting a large truck camper on mine so the digital rear view mirror AVF package seems the safe bet to be able to always see behind you. I think the XN1 is only shown on the Uconnect display and not full time.
I'm finalizing my build quote for a 2500 4x4 Crew Cab Limited. I asked for the digital rear view mirror w/ tow mode and trailer 360 options. The salesman spec'd out Trailer Surround View Camera System (XN1) - that's the trailer 360, right? He also spec'd out the Tow-Mode Camera (Wired) (XH7) - since the Level 1 group already has the digital rear view mirror, is this the equivalent of AVF? For the slight added cost (compared to overall build cost), I just want to make sure I'm "future proofing" the truck for all potential trailer camera options.

The only thing we're not sure about is if you need to add the Trailer Camera Wiring (No Camera) XFQ option. My dealer told me they weren't able to add it without removing the Towing Tech Group package.

I ordered mine without and just added XH7 camera ala-carte since the Digital Rearview mirror was already included in Safety Group B on my Laramie build. Those are the only two items apparently included in AVF, mirror and camera.

Finally, yes, XN1 is trailer 360.

That's a great option, the digital mirror drives me nuts using it

I'm currently at:
-Limited Level 1 Group (A69)
-Tow-Mode Camera (Wired) (XH7) $995
-Trailer Surround View Camera System (XN1) $450

Is XN1 the same thing as the surround view camera system already in Level 1 (or Towing Tech group)? Wouldn't the system flag that if there is redundant/overlapping packages?

So, there's still a lingering question about whether the Trailer Camera Wiring (XFQ) is needed? Wouldn't the system flag that if required in addition to the above options?

I just want to make sure I get all of the trailer camera options w/o paying double for already included items.

You give FCA too much credit

Trailer Surround View is NOT the same as Surround View. One is for the trailer, other is on the truck. Based on what I've seen, you don't get double charged for components that are in multiple packages.

Makes sense. So, the million dollar question remains whether XN1 and XH7 negate the need for XFQ...

Agreed. No idea. The only thought I would have is XFQ would allow you to mount a camera anywhere in your trailer to make sure nothing is shifting. But maybe it’s possible that you can get a dealer to flash that option for you if you don’t need more wiring harnesses.

Good Morning All,

I started the conversation with Sandi, we are underway. Currently working through wants and wishes, hopefully we can have a finalized build in the next week or two. Once I get the order complete, I will post my option codes / build sheet.

Here she is!

Yes it is a change from my previous posts with the Max Steel. But I wanted to maximize my truck without pay extra for very few not required options.

Have a great day!!

I was really close to picking the Delmonico, but ended up with Granite Crystal since I've seen it in person.

I've been debating replying or not; this thread is to post and discuss builds/deals, I'm not sure this ongoing -- and frankly pointless -- debate needs to continue. Many members are ordering from these dealers. Many members have gotten their trucks as promised, and to the best of my knowledge, no one's been shut down or screwed on a deal. As it's been pointed out elsewhere upthread, guaranteed sales plus minimal lot time equals less cost. Volume sales (I know the person I worked with had over 100 in the pipeline) also gets preferential treatment.

If you're suspicious, order elsewhere. Pay more if it makes you feel better. I'm happy knowing I got a great price and didn't have to haggle at all. It's how car buying should be these days.
I would like to add, that anyone with doubts, only needs to go to Ram.com and select any specific dealer and they will see what FCA thinks about them. I found this forum extremely helpful when buying a new truck in the cesspool of greedy dealers we find ourselves surrounded with. The dealer I selected to go with has been criticized by a number of you (maybe dealers or salespeople losing deals), and Ram.com has them listed as a premium dealer recognized by FCA and JD Power.

Last point; We try our best to keep things on track here and while we're not always perfect in execution or able to please everyone, moderator actions are not up for debate in public (see the site rules) and comments like "you seem to have a problem with that" are antagonistic and unnecessary. It's a thankless job that has to endure jabs from new members trying to flex. Careful poking the beer, keep calm and carry on.
That's a really intelligent, well-written and thoughtful response. Thanks, and sorry. You have gained my respect.

Lol I wonder if I can get Sandi to request a change on mine from the 6.4 hemi to the Cummins. It’s the one thing that I keep thinking about. I keep asking myself “should I have just forked up the extra 10k?”
I'm only towing an 8,000 pound trailer and I'm going with the diesel. Of course if I didn't live in Colorado I might have gone with a gas engine. I don't like being able to go only 35 mph up the Eisenhower tunnel or other high passes. I drove my neighbors Ram 2500 and once I experienced the exhaust brake, I was sold on the diesel. Going down these mountains can be a bit stressful, but not with that exhaust brake. Don't even need the trailer brakes.

Seems that none of these dealers willing to discount well are in the north east. My dealer is willing to go straight invoice on my order. I guess in todays world... getting invoice is not terrible. Many of the Pittsburgh area dealers are trying to hold pretty tight to MSRP/sticker... I just got my 2021 Laramie Friday at $2500 off MSRP, and I am waiting to submit the order (and a $1000 non refundable deposit) until I commit to the build. I am second guessing the 360 degree trailer camera system now. I assumed it was all wireless, but reading here it sunds like it is a hard wired thing. I can get a wireless camera for the fifth wheel for $500 or so aftermarket. And I was dead set on Hydro Blue, but I wanted the night edition as well, sounds like I can not get the night along with hydro.... I need to ponder a bit more.

I hear you, I wanted Hydro Blue as well, I ended up ordering a Patriot Blue Night Edition. (The color isn't available on a Limited either). I wish they offered Hydro Blue that way, I think the black wheels would look great with it. I skipped the trailer surround; I like the look of the wireless Furrion systems that seem to be prewired into a lot of RVs.

Good luck with your order. :)

Well I’m back fam lol
With the shortage on Fords I’m thinking of selling mine and moving to a 22 big horn.
Good info here. I’ll keep ya posted. I have already reached out to marks.

Good to see you back! I was brand new when you were doing your CP3, etc. I'm now anxiously awaiting production startup for 2022's.
