I do have a VIN, I believe I got that back in March if memory serves. My VIN is for a 2021 as well, probably wishful thinking that they perform some magic last minute and change my M to an N lol.
One silver lining of waiting 6 months is that I have at least 6 promotions I can choose between to apply to my truck when it ever comes in. I really regret not going for a 2020 last November, I just decided that if I am going to spend nearly 100k on a truck I really want to get what I really want so I chose to order.
The lack of support, transparency, communication from either the dealers or FCA North of the border is absolutely shocking. I know it is unlikely, as FCA really doesn't give a crap, but it would be nice if they boosted the promotions for those waiting so long or at least offered discounted options at closing time at the dealerships or even 0% financing. I still keep going back to the experience my brother had on his F250 ordered within a week of mine, he had a great experience overall and received his truck 5 weeks ago. Total night and day difference between how Ford and FCA treat their customers through the waiting process in Canada from what I saw.
No VIN for me...yet.
After researching the inner working of the order process, make me wonder how they prioritize the builds. one would have to assume with the shortage of chips, pandemic, demand increaseing, etc. they would have done something a little off from normal.
US market is much larger than Canada, it only makes perfect business sense to prioritize those builds. Beyond that, maybe service vehicles / fleet / public orders - then dealer inventory? im just guessing really. maybe a ratio is applied?
No doubt the formula is complex, then add in a few unpredictable variables, and it starts looking like as ugly as a bucket of broken transfer cases.
Interesting tho
