Factory Spray in liner

I had the factory liner in a 2014 1500, no tonneau cover. It seemed like it faded really quick.
Unless you pay extra for the uv coating from line x it fades just as fast

I will say that I think the ford factory toughbed liner stuff is pretty dang good. Bout the only thing nice I have to say bout my experience.

I bit off the topic, but it does concern the bed rails. Although my new 3500 should be delivered early next week (ordered February 24th), I have never seen a 2021 in person. I will be installing my ProTech toolbox as soon as I get the truck. I had it mounted in my 2004, and want to use the same mounting method. The only "through-bolt" attachment occurs along the top of the bedrail at the front of the bed. This is the rail that parallels the cab. The side attachments are done using blind rail clamps, and I know those will work on the new truck. I do need to drill three holes along the top of the rail behind the cab. My question is, does this rail have a plastic cap like the side rails? If it does, how is it attached? I assume it would be attached with clips of some sort. Ideally, I would remove the cap and bolt directly to the rail. I'm afraid that attaching on top of a plastic cap would cause issues in appearance from compressing only portions of the cap. If I remove it, if it has one, how many holes would be visible from the clip locations?

If anyone has a closeup picture of the front of the bed, that would be greatly appreciated.

No plastic crap rail on the front edge of the bed. At least not on mine that was factory bedliner.

My factory liner is completely adequate for me. It’s not a work truck, but I’ve never had anything but the factory.

Line-X has a target of 120-125 mils and my factory bedliner appears to be in that range. My 2002 Jeep had the interior coated in Rhino Liner when it was brand new and it was probably double that thickness which resulted in fitting issues when reinstalling the roll bars and other components.

What do you mean by 120 mil?

My 2018 1500 did not have a factory spray liner. I had it done with Line-X. The coverage on everything was outstanding.

My 2020 1500 had a factory spray liner and it was adequate but not nearly as well laid down as the Line-X. The OEM was clearly done by a machine and has good tolerances. But it will not compete with a human being and custom laid. Compare a factory paint job to a custom paint job.

My 2021 3500 does not have anything from the factory. If it had come with the OEM liner I would have been ok with it. But deep down I am happy it didn’t because I prefer Line-X. I need to get it over to the Line-X shop soon.

LineX color match spray in liner. Delmonico Red. Love my truck. And kudos to LineX for the great job they did.
How long before it turns pink? I had a friend with a pink bed Chevy. It faded in the Florida sun in 3 years with the coating to supposedly preserve it.

I don't think it will. I have a buddy with the color match thats had it about 4 years now. Looks the same as the day they sprayed it. Not to mention that most of the time my tonneau cover is closed, so it won't be getting much sun. I just don't understand this overall fascination with everything black. Vehicle interiors, black out packages, spray in liners, etc... I mean to each their own but thats just dark and depressing. I prefer vibrant colors that pop. I like things to be light and airy!
