How do you transport your dogs

Why wouldn't it be? Dogs have been riding in open truck beds as long as there have been trucks. The only reason I use the crate is one of them gets scared easily and prefers it otherwise they would be going au naturale. They have plenty of room to move around, are not in the direct wind, and I'm not taking them on the freeway at high speeds.

Dogs are dogs, not kids. It's totally fine to go the extra mile as if they were human but it's also OK to let them be dogs too. My dogs live a good life but then I also catch them doing nasty dog stuff in the backyard.

I know what you mean, but just checking to make sure there is not some law these days!

Frank those are fighting words for some people haha.....this was when he was only a 1- 2 years old. But this dog gets better treatment than me at times.

LOL.

They may be fighting words but they shouldn't be. To those people I say...when is the last time you put a bowl of food on the floor for your kids to share and then drove off to the bar for date night? And I have yet to see a case of a toddler mauling someone to death. Ergo dogs are not kids. Prove me wrong.

I will concede the fact that they both smell funny, pee on stuff they shouldn't, and eat strange things off the floor. But that's as far as I go.
 
We have a 5th wheel and the dog rides in the trailer. We wedge his kennel in the upper hallway where it cannot side and then he gets locked in. That way, he can still move around a little, but has a very limited range if we do have an accident.

It really comes down to why you have dogs I guess and the function they serve maybe - my grandparents worked a ranch all their lives and the dogs they had were working dogs. They were never allowed in the house and had their kennels. They were viewed like any other animal on the ranch really - my grandfather loved those dogs but they were not "pets" in the sense they came in the house etc - if that makes sense.

Now the flip side was when my mom was in high school she found this Chihuahua - why there are Chihuahuas lost in Northern Nebraska is beyond me - but that dog was allowed in the house and was spoiled to death by the entire family. In fact they all talked about that dog long after it was dead and I heard about it as a kid. The ranch dogs were still not allowed in the house when I was growing up!

Mine were hounds for hunting and also kept in the house as part of the family

I hear ya....we have three dogs. German Shepard, boxer/Pitbull mix...and I inherited a toy poodle when my Mom passed. You would never get the family to agree to make any of them outside dogs. The GS loves to be outside but with the the summer temps here reach 110F and

One of the intake valves started slipping through a splitting retainer I believe around 90k miles. Timing chain tensioner failed at 150k miles and the cam ate the roller for that bad valve. I also had to replace the CoPs at about 120k, if you gave it gas pulling a boat uphill at least one would completely fail and you would limp to the top. Let's not even get started on the slack on the driveshaft.

I actually liked that truck a lot but I won't pay that much for a truck that falls apart that early.

Just sold my 05 Lariat with no issues at 161000 miles. Never looking back. Loving my pumpkin wagon.
