MOPAR - MAXCARE - Zeigler - Extended Warranty Merged Mega Thread

Just like everything, you're going to see some who wouldn't live without them and others who swear against them.

I'd recommend reading up in some of the other threads about this very same subject. There are some recommendations about places to purchase from at decent discounts, etc...

$3,500 for 36-months is FAR too expensive! You can do better checking with a couple of the on-line factory warranty sites. Also, some of them will offer additional discounts during holidays or for 100% payment rather than payments. I purchased mine through www.jeepfactorywarranty.com/ram There are other companies that should save you money. Just make sure that you get a Chrysler company factory-backed extended warranty.
Why get an extended warranty? The electronics and computers in these machines are complicated and expensive.

6/72K for $3500 is highway robbery.

I got 8/60K on my Limited diesel for under $1,100.

For a gasser, or higher cost, I'd probably not bother. Bank/invest the money.

Extra warranty is a waste of money

99.9% of the time I agree. It's always a crap shoot.

I've done it only twice.
An expensive dishwasher that gave me trouble from day 1 and the mfr refused to acknowledge the problem (sound familiar?) but I knew it would cost me money so I bought one after the initial purchase - and it payed out.
This truck with a CP4 and $4000 flatscreen.

For $1,058 I'll roll the dice. Did not finance it,

Not everyone turns their own wrenches.

Is Insurance a waste of money?

Extra warranty is a waste of money
I paid $1300 for 5 yr/100,000 mile extended warranty on my ecodiesel. The electronic power steering went out at 45,000 miles. It would have been a $2,400 repair. Tell me how it was a waste of money.

Its a gamble but my first new vehicle i paid 2700$ for extra warrenty and never needed it so after that if i could not get more warranty for 500$ i was not risking it anything that breaks i will fix it myself i have never needed extended warranty yet

I bought the 419 plan. I never buy extended warranty but its my first diesel with DEF and have had issues with dodge electronics in the past. I can and do work on my own stuff but its my first new truck and I just didnt want to worry about it. I have enough other junk around here to fix lol.

I bought the 419 plan as well. I am retired and don't put that many miles on a truck. I priced it all over Canada and my dealer was one in highest price. Bought mine from a dealer in Alberta. Saved me 800.

I will be getting an extended warranty, likely through Zeigler. For the money it's peace of mind with all the gadgets on these trucks. The old 2nd gen was a different animal.

Wanted to send a shout out to this thread. Having the Ziegler quote when negotiating with the dealer saved me thousands!

I am curious if anyone had a similar experience, with what ended up being an Autonation extended warranty that didn't quite cover all that the Mopar did, but was easily 2k more.

The finance person seemed willing to let me pick up the EW outside of the deal, but then as we kept going through other things, kept lowering the price. Then when I pointed out that what I had was the Mopar plan, he all of the sudden shifted and gave me the same Mopar coverage as Ziegler for a 150 less.

How many people mention the Zeigler warranty to the dealer when you are buying your truck, and do they usually match it? Or do most dealers not sell factory warranties?

I am sure mine would have sold a factory warranty if I insisted, but i suspect they make more money on third party. After going round and round, he finally admitted the "deal" he wanted to give me was for third party. Both times Ive bought trucks (my new PW and my 2014 1500) they wouldn't match the Zeigler quote.

I said I was going to buy the Ziegler when asked about warranties and he gave me a pretty sweet deal on the Mopar one after I said that. He even price checked the site to make sure he was beating it.

Is it essentially the same one? Covers everything? I never really buy warranties on anything but I plan to have pretty low mileage on the truck I will be getting and the 8 year/80k miles one seem like a decent price.

I picked my truck up Saturday. The dealer offered 8yr/60k for $3495 with a money back guarantee or 8/60 for $2495 with no money back guarantee. I passed after they stated they couldn't touch that price after showing the salesman my quote in email form. I promptly called Zeigler Monday and got 7/100 for $1700 (Mopar MaxCare). Done and I feel good about it.
