Off road package

I looked at a bunch of trucks and ended up with one that had just the “protection package” which gave me tow hooks and transfer case skid plate for $145.

I guess hill decent would be a nice feature. For shocks, I run fox shocks so I didn’t need a truck with bilstein shocks on it... although the $495 Offroad package wouldn’t have deterred me... i did look at some with that package. But, every truck I looked at with the 4x4 Offroad package had an electronic transfer case and I wanted manual.

Someone here may correct me but I think another perk of the Off-Road package is the auxiliary switches? As someone who puts aftermarket lights and accessories on every vehicle I own this was a huge plus for me.

I think it's worth the initial investment. The only thing I don't like is the badge on the bed. Kinda dumb but it doesn't hurt anything.

Aux switches are a separate standalone option.

The giant RAM lettering is a Rebel/PW thing.

Both unconnected to the Off-Road package.

I think he was talking about the ugly Off Road badging on the rear quarters not the awesome RAM on the PW rear tailgate...

Not a big deal Takes 5 mins to get off i pulled it off gently then a touch off goof off and ceramic spray after....it actually only took me 30 mins to debage the one side before the rain came today ..... i know the truck is dirty as hell but its been raining lots and lots of driving on dirt roads...

Curious as well. I have the 4x4 off-road pkg with 3.9 gears and do not have the 3rd shock. Maybe 4.10 has something to do with it.

Do you have the Cummins? I have the 6.4 without the off road package and I have the top shock.

All the 2500 gas trucks have the bilstein shock on top of the rear diff. It’s “anti power hop”
I have not had a chance to look at the exact mounting but i was thinking of pulling my springs out and cycling the suspension see if the hole to hole distance changes as its cycling, if the hole to hole distance does not change i am going to make an anti wrap bar with heims instead of buying the shock.... since you have the shock any chance you can see if thats a possible idea.... in theory it should stay the same distance unless its on a stupid angle

Yea, the shock compresses and extends so the distance changes

anti wrap is not needed in a 4 link there is zero axle wrap

the shock is angled upward pushing slightly downward on the pumpkin providing resistance against wheel hop.

This is the only thing I can find to support my claim that all gassers have it.

let’s get to the bottom of this

I was wrong, the auxiliary switches are part of the Snow Chief Group which is also a great addition.

I was referring to the "4x4 OFF-ROAD" badge on the side of the bed. It's not terrible looking on my dark gray truck but I plan on removing it soon.
