Ram's Holding Some Late November to Early December (Possibly More) Orders Due to Quality Issue (threads merged)

I really do wish it's as simple as that.
I see there is a Mopar Custom Shop in Sterling Heights Michigan - basically right next to the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.

You will drive your self insane wondering what it could be. Just keep checking in with your sales manager on the status.

I know. I wanted to find out if someone has had or is going through a similar situation. I guess no.

I ordered a ‘21 2500 6.4 Limited on 12/5. First ETA was 1/21. Next update was 2/2, then 2/5. Next we found out it was in a rail yard in Centreville, IL on 2/5. After nearly 3 weeks, today the dealership tells me the following...

Got some news on your truck there is a quality hold on your truck they must check it again to make sure it passes quality control. The problem is they sent it to Texas a long with 2000 other trucks built at the same time as your truck. They said there checking customer ordered vehicles first, so they pushed back the ETA 3/15. I will be constantly in contact with our rep to get updates..

Seems like maybe I am having a similar issue.

Sounds like we might be in the same boat. In my conversation with the general sales manager he did mention Ram was initially going to ship it to Texas but it ended up being in Detroit. I suspect it has to do with plant capacity. I didn't know it was some 2000 trucks.

Curious what the problem was. Sucks to be delayed by a month but I guess it’s better if it’s really fixed.

I am waiting on a 2021 2500 6.4 4.10 with an SL date of 0109. Dealer told me it was off loaded at rail depot 2 hrs away in NC on 1/27, still waiting on delivery to dealer. Last week they told me my new estimated ship date was 2/24. No truck today.. we shall see.

Same built day as mine... One thing yours, alfaRAMeo's, and my truck all have in common is the 6.4

I have been involved with several of these over the years and many times a large group of trucks are quarantined while awaiting an inspection to even see if there is a potential problem. When a problem is discovered on the line many times hundreds or even thousand of the trucks have already left. An effort is made as to when the problem began and trucks are set aside then tested, then fixed. It could be a batch of electrical connectors that don't fit perfect, or a fuel injector that has a leaking o-ring, etc. It could be something else but the exercises I have been personally involved with have been super minor.
Thanks for the insider knowledge. This sort of lessens my worry slightly...

I used to work for a luxury auto brand several years ago. Cars were held up all the time for unknown issues. I wouldn't let it bother you. If they are doing their job, the truck is going to arrive and you won't ever know what on earth it could have been.

When I worked for a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership over a decade ago we were blown away sometimes by vehicles that would show up. Side steps (or stickers) on one side, but not the other / rubicon stickers on wrangler sports / windshields not glued all the way around / mismatched wheels / it goes on and on, but there was nothing worse than Rail Dust. Having a vehicle show up with rust spots front to back is awful. And a brand new car going to the body shop for cut/buff is so sad.

Just stand by and take a nice closer look at the truck when it comes in. If it's not 100%, grab something else. Or start negotiating.

Whats the difference compared to a full on recall there was an issue they fixed it end of story.... they are not going to halfass a fix some of you people are ridiculous

Enough said, but if you wanna start calling people names, I will play and I promise you I will win. I just said that if it was my truck, I would not want it.

They halfass built it to begin with, what makes you think they won't halfass fix it.
