2019 Ram 2500HD, Is there a hidden winch mount available?

Was there any issue with mounting the winch in the bracket? did it need to mounted upside down to accommodate the Power Wagon "top spool" configuration verses the bottom spool on the standard winch?
No issues at all. The badland winch is actually top spool

I think I'm going to order that Ramsey Patriot 15000 for my build, does anyone have any experience with that winch?

There might be one thing I didn't mentioned in my thread. If you don't have towing hooks installed it might be a good time to do it when you install your winch. I realized that you easily compress the main frame rectangular tube with bolts. When I was installing mine I had to tighten the nut enough to compress the tube walls against the towing hook otherwise it will "rattle" inside the tube and make a lot of noise while driving. Not sure what poundage you should tighten those too. Might have to look it up somewhere.

Has anyone done this mod on a Laramie? Is there anything additional behind the bumper on a Laramie that would preclude you from installing the winch?

Also, what was the fix for the clutch handle access on non Warn Zeon Platinum winches?

If it's

If it's not diesel you should be good to go. On the clutch i have not seen an option where you can move it.

It fits with out issue. Right now there is no remedy for the clutch handle. I am working with a couple companies to see if there is a cost effective option.

Unless you're using synthetic cable, you don't wany to be in the vehicle when winching.

A snapped cable under tension will cut through glass and steel like a hot knife through butter.
What? lol no.
You ABSOLUTELY want to be INSIDE the vehicle when winching, ESPECIALLY with steel cable.
1) where do you think is safer than inside a steel cage with that 10ft remote?
2) you’ve got to be behind the wheel to steer/apply brakes/judicious throttle(if needed during self recovery, don’t shock load the line though). If you are recovering another vehicle, they should also be in their vehicle (except in extenuating situations) to steer/brake/apply judicious throttle (again, don’t shock load the line)

Ronny Dahl on youtube actually has a good video on this.

You use the wireless and stand 20 feet to the side and back. I try to be nowhere near the line of fire, and I recover an awful lot of vehicles. I also do not use steel cable, only synthetic. I replace the synthetic every 3 years, no matter if it looks worn or not. I've done some gnarly off-road recovery, and I've never had a human hurt or ever failed to recover, even after recovery companies have failed to recover or reach the the dead vehicle.

There is an art to recovery, and there is proper gear. It's enjoyable when you know the physics of it and the dangers of it.

The steel cage surrounded by glass?

You probably think it’s safer to not wear a seatbelt too, don’t you?

Not at all.

I bet you can guess what I'm thinking right now.
Humor me....

Again, even if you have a wireless controller which allows you to stand in a safe location, you are now not in control of the winch vehicle.

You do you, though. Stay safe.

I couldn't honestly say every time, but nearly.... I tie off the winch vehicle to a tree or another vehicle. My other favored truck is that I'll drive the front against 2 trees with the winch between them. And if I have the option, I'll run a snatch block to double the load or get the better angle on the pull. I rarely am in a situation where there are no trees within a hundred feet or so that I can't grab with straps to the rear bumper, but then again, I'm in the northeast where trees are plentiful. I could see in the plains or desserts where you might have real issues getting a solid winching base to where you actually need to try and use the brakes to lock 4 tires and pull from that situation. Up here in the forest, that's an odd situation. I do also carry 200 feet of straps and 8 D rings, a tree strap, 95 foot of winch rope and an additional 60 feet of winch rope that I made into an extension after a snapped one years ago. So I really honestly can almost always find a way to lock my winch vehicle to a stationary object.

Any progress on this? I ordered couple extra clutch handles from Harbor Freight to have something to work with. I was thinking to make something like a two gears connected with chain to rotate the clutch. But as I'm looking at the photos now it looks like the winch frame might be on the way.

I was thinking the same, but have not made any progress. I got caught up in another project and wifey has been driving the truck lately. The factory handle come through the frame and there seems to be some notching done for it. so I'd imagine it can be done.

I will have to inspect it deeper. I just looked at the photos I have from my installation. Once I receive the handles from harbor freight I will come up with something for sure ;)
