Price negotiated from MSRP

How does this quote look? Do you think the dealer has more room to come down on price?

Working on a 2021 2500 order, MSRP of $78,095, and dealer has offered to order based on an agreed upon price of $68,095, plus I can use my $1,500 current RAM email rebate getting me to $66,595, or about 15% of MSRP before TTL. Not at all opposed to sticking with a 2020 but having a hell of time finding my exact build (and plus a little). Certainly being picky on the options, but I'm the one that buys new only every 15-20 years.... I'm not doing the deal yet because I really want to be closer to $61k or closer to 22% off, but has anyone got around that much off of a 2500 or 3500? Been following the 1500 thread and I know 17K off of those is possible, but I would love to hear from any of you heavy dutys out there. Thanks in advance.

Hi all - I'm trying to find a leftover 3500 quad cab / Hemi and they're pretty thin on the ground - with the few I've found the dealers are holding the line at Employee Pricing, not a penny less. And they tell me the $1500 e-mail bonus cash can't be combined with Employee Pricing for all, and neither can the 0% financing. True or bogus?

One guy is trying to get me invoice and include the $1500 bonus and 3/36 0% financing. The specific truck I'm looking at is a Tradesman with some goodies, MSRP 48,640, Invoice around 46000, Employee Pricing for all is $43,833. So invoice - $1500 gets me to about 44,500 and I get to save a few grand on interest, which is probably a better deal than employee pricing.

Seems pretty stingy for an end of year deal but hey, it's Coronaworld I guess. What do you think, pull the trigger or try and get a deal on a 2021 special order?

I appreciate this thread and all the information. Been a long time Ram 1500 owner and finally jumping to a 2500, Diesel.

Went with Dennis Dillon and I think I did ok

Purchased $55750.
Price does include finance rebate ($2000) which is not a deal breaker for me as I will pay off the truck after six months or refinance if rates are good, $500 first responder discount.

The trade market is unreal and is the reason we could make this happen, got more than I paid for my 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel.

12.8% below MSRP before incentives is great. I don't count incentive discounts like $1,500 because that comes from the manufacturer at the time of delivery. The 12.8% is the purchase price using dealer discounts, an affiliate program, or sometimes a national program like employee pricing plus. The 1500's seem to have more padding than the HDs which is why they seem to get more off MSRP. Holding out may get you a slightly better deal but I doubt you're going to get another ~6-7% off; I'd be surprised if you're able to get another 1% unless Ram gives the dealer something to work with. That being said, I'm rooting for you. Let us know how you make out!

I agree with Paul. Going to be hard to squeeze much more, I'm also at ~13% off on my 3500 order and am pretty happy, now just the waiting game.
You're upgrading to 2500... for?

Thanks for the response Paul. I will certainly keep this updated. I don't think I've seen a verifiable deal in the last 6 or so months much better than this, but I'm holding out hope that someone can show me that path. Would like to buy by years end since I know its possible my 1500 could have a major problem at any time, at 149K, although it truly runs great. My friends 2007 Chevy 1500 blew the motor at about 175K and his value went from about 9k to 2.5k. That would be soul crushing.

Upgrading for multiple reasons.....
- I have needed to rent heavy equipment in the past for personal projects where the company I would rent from won't unless I have a 3/4 ton to pull it with
- I plan to buy a 5th wheel in the next couple of years
- I will keep it for 15-20 years, and even then the value will hopefully hold up justifying the higher expense
- Longevity, although I've had pretty good luck with my 1500
- I would have said gas mileage but the higher cost of diesel now makes that about a wash, plus I only average about 8K miles/year so whether its better or worse it just doesn't make much difference

I do. 11% off MSRP on a '20 2500... They can do much better. Heck you can do better on a custom build '21. I recommend patience...the fire is under their rear-end not yours.
Any suggestion on a dealer to get the best deal? Willing to travel any where in the country.

I didn’t blow a motor, but a new body style came out on my trade and I watched the value drop $5k overnight, so I totally get it. I noticed you said you’re not opposed to a 2020. There are actually some outstanding deals still floating around on 20s and even some 19s that have been sitting on lots. I passed up a 2019 almost identical to mine for $6k less than what I paid to order mine. It may benefit you to find something aging on a lot. Dealers are starting to get desperate to get rid of any remaining 19s. Some dealers are also willing to do a nationwide search if you ask, and may be able to find you a slightly better deal. If you’re able, find out which dealer has that truck and work with them directly; otherwise your dealer is going to want a cut of the profit. That said, if I was in your situation I would pull the trigger on the order you put together. I contacted almost 20 Ram dealers throughout the Northeast, ranging from small to large, and most of them didn’t even want to negotiate because they knew they could sell at MSRP. A friend in Colorado told me Ford trucks are listed ABOVE MSRP and still selling.... it’s a tough market right now.

Wow, above MSRP, that's just crazy! I just haven't seen any 2019 inventory but going to do a search now because I agree with you, 19' 20' or 21' really doesn't matter to me. Let you know what I find.
 
I just DM'd @Shanethism some dealers I had luck with (didn't want to spam their phone/email here on the forum but feel free to ask privately) and it reminded me of something important that we should probably also be tracking here...
Dealer fees... I don't meean tax, title, or registration because those are up to your state so you're going to pay them either way, but most dealers have "documentation", "filing", and "other" fees which can vary wildly.

Some states have imposed limits on these, but I've seen anything from $99 to $2k, and know they go higher. When you're comparing just purchase price you could be doing yourself a major disservice. Most dealers here in MA charge one fee and it's usually $300-500, but some states allow multiple fees (documentation, tag fees, advertising, dealer prep) and some of them are in the thousands. There are even dealers that are charging you the $1695 destination fee on the fee sheet, which is total B.S. considering it's in the MSRP. So keep that in mind when going back and forth between two dealers (especially in different markets who don't normally compete against each other) because negotiating $1200 off a truck to get that extra 1% below MSRP might be a moot point if you're paying $3k more in fees.

OK, please please do your research on payload and the.. IMO.. significant difference between 2500 vs 3500 payload capabilities relitive to their GVWR. This can absolutely bite you with a 5th wheel future plan.

I'm working with Dennis Dillon in Idaho, so far so good for me. They seem quite professional and reasonable. Of course your mileage may vary.
I like dealing with volume dealers. Not to say it's impossible possible to get a great deal at a smaller dealer, because you absolutely can.

OK, please please do your research on payload and the.. IMO.. significant difference between 2500 vs 3500 payload capabilities relitive to their GVWR. This can absolutely bite you with a 5th wheel future plan.
Agree with Ostracize. I was considering a 2500 to haul a car hauler and travel trailer for now with dreams of a 5th wheel 10+ years down the road. Reading up on 5th wheelers and the kingpin weights, I've stepped up to a 3500 MC 6.7 SO. Still only SRW so that will limit my 5th wheel choices but not nearly as restrictive as a 2500 MC 6.7 SO would.

Looking at your 2500 config above, I est. your payload to be 1850-1950lbs according to the Ram towing/payload capacity lookup tool. The 2500s are heavy and only a 10k GVWR so the payload is 10k minus the truck's weight. The 6.7 and MC eat up a lot of that payload capacity. There is a thread that discusses/shows door payload stickers with configs. This one is close to your config from what I can tell.

I have found cargurus search engine is very helpful at finding just the right configuration nationwide so you may want to try them for your searching. Wish the Ram inventory could do nationwide.
 
I’ve been looking at a new 2020 which has the employee pricing. Dealer told me Im not able to use the other rebates with that. I don’t think thats correct but could someone give me some input? Thanks

Call the FCA incentives line (posted somewhere on here or just grab it off the Ramtrucks.com website). I did the same and my guy told me the $1,500 pop up from the site IS stackable, however I don't have that in writing.
