Evidence of ACC

You can tell if you have adaptive steering by looking at the steering gear. If it has this circled torque overlay box attached to the gear, it has adaptive steering:

Parts post has been updated with the adaptive steering intermediate shaft- 68427394AA

I do know there’s such thing as Rams equipped with 8.4 radio and lane assist. I’ll have to search for one so I can get the VIN and part number.
I'm new to this forum and have a whole separate issue related to ACC and I'm looking for some help. I took my 2022 RAM cummings strictly to one dealer for all service and recall work and after one of the visits, my ACC had been removed. I told them about it and rather than say "Man I'm so sorry, we will look into this", they just looked up by vin and looked me right in the eye and said I never had it. The vin lookup will show it not there and I think they are using that as an alibi. However, I bought the truck from a different dealer where it was custom ordered but the buyer backed and it sat for months. They could have easily added it there to entice a sale or something.

My question is, what should I look for to prove that the vehicle had ACC? If I have what you circled above, would that prove it was there? How do I access that part? Also, I'm trying to figure if they just stole the harness from steering wheel, or all parts necessary to make the system work. If if was just the harness or some of the parts, then maybe I can find others that wouldn't have been there if it was never installed. Anyway, this might be a topic for a new thread, but I was enticed by your picture. Thanks for any help in advance. Dave.

You will have the ACC buttons on the steering wheel and the large shroud on the windshield in front of the mirror, the exterior of the windshield will look like this in the upper center. Pictures aren't the greatest but the non ACC trucks look quite a bit different.

Hello I'm a new member. My name is Dave and I had an awful experience at a dealership recently. I bought a new 2022 Ram 2500 Cummins turbo quad cab 4x4 at dealer A that wasn't close by. I have only had it serviced at a local dealer I'll call dealer B.
I had taken it to dealer B on one occasion with Adaptive Cruise Control installed and when I picked it up, it was completely gone. No steering wheel controls or nothing. When I questioned them on it, instead of saying, "Geez, man I'm so sorry let me investigate this for you", they immediately jumped to looking up vin and telling me I never had it as though I'm crazy. Both the lady at the desk and the service manager responded identically as though they trained for the moment I would return. But I know I had it because I used it. Not all vins will report everything that was on a truck and the one I bought was custom ordered and the buyer backed out. It sat on the lot for months where ACC could have been added to entice a sale etc.

Anyway, what I need now is some kind of evidence. I told these thieves that I would be back and that this isn't over. Did they take all the parts of just some? If just some,, what can I look for on my truck to prove part of the ;system is still there? If they took everything, is there some kind of flash record that can be retrieved from the computer showing the change? I'm desperate for answers because I feel extremely violated at this point. I think this dealer looked up vin before taking my part(s) knowing that would provide an alibi for him.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

So that darker area on the outside of the windshield will only be present on models that have ACC? Does that contain some sensors used for it?

I really appreciate the info. Thanks.

And yeah I had the controls on the wheel but now a cover exists where they used to be.

Mine specifically lists adaptive cruise control under safety group.

Another member suggested I look for the large shroud on outside of windshield. If I see that, does that automatically mean I had ACC? I'm pretty sure I have that but will confirm here shortly when I get home tonight.

"New" 2022 and have only had it serviced at a local dealer on one occasion with the ACC installed? What's the time span between the purchase and it being serviced... 2 or 3 years?

I feel like AI is getting out of hand and is scanning for recent topics discussed and then making posts about said topic in an almost believable way lately. Why, I don't know.

As someone new, let me tell you that creating a mess for the mods by cross posting in several forums is not going to be acceptable behavior here.

Your posts have been merged into a single thread. Please avoid creating another mess.

Furthermore, your post is quoting a reference to lane sense and adaptive steering, and the steering gear parts, yet you're asking about ACC (adaptive cruise control). It's very nonsensical.

An accusation that a dealer went through the trouble of replacing your steering wheel and disabling a feature you claim to have had is also perplexing.

Please provide a picture of your steering wheel and the VIN.

Sorry I’m new to the whole forum game but I’m looking for some expertise not criticism. I don’t know what the etiquette is here. This really happened . Imagine you going to a dealer where under normal circumstances, you’d feel the safest taking your vehicle there. You pay more but you feel safe only to find out that an expensive part was removed. How would you feel? What would you do? Where would you go for answers? Now I can’t take back to the dealer anymore because what else will be swapped out? Tires, seats ? Can’t trust them anymore.

Probably changed out the windshield also!! Damn Dealers!! LOL
This is why knowing what to look for in the windshield would be helpful. Can’t imagine they would take that too. If only certain windshield is offered for ACC then I can go to bureau of automotive etc with evidence.
