That is the part I don't understand. 10K miles per year? Spend close to a 100K on this pickup and not drive it? I seem to have read somewhere that folks typically average around 15k+ miles a year. If so, folks will be out of warranty in 6.6 years. Most pickup drivers I know put at least that many miles, probably more a year.
Everyone has their own use case, reasons, and budget.
But not every truck owner uses there truck as a grocery getter they own a car for that, many buy a truck to tow there RV's during the summer months then drive a limited amount of miles during the cold & snow winter months, so 10K in a year is not out of the norm for many people...
This. RV, truck stuff, hunting.
Yep, I only drive my truck when I need a truck. I have other vehicles that get better gas mileage and are more maneuverable. I got a 70K mile extended warranty (service contract) when I purchased my 2024 with no time limit. I only drive my truck a few thousand miles a year so I'll probably have this truck until I don't need a truck anymore. This new warranty would have been a selling point for me.
Also this. I do 4-5K year. Got a 8/60 ext warranty for time, not miles. As much for the electronics as the drivetrain.
2020 currently has just under 20K.
I sold my 2004 in 2020 with 72K. low mileage clean rust free diesels have a much greater resale value.
That said, I've been WFH since 2003, 37 mile commute to the airport a few times a month (ended that grind in March), wife works 3 miles away, and we just don't clock a lot of miles on our vehicles. We fly most anywhere we go and don't roadtrip a lot except for the RV/boating.
ETA: I still drive my 2003 A6 whenever possible and it's got 106K on the odo. Wife's 2008 Suby she refuses to give up and drives it when she's afraid to take her new SUV to the store has just over 100K. She does more miles than I running her hobby sales around town and beyond these last years, still maybe only 10K/year.
