Does your Cummins regenerate once per tank?

I never know when I regen...I might notice when it smells different....

With that being said why isn't there some kind of indicator?
Light on the dash
Message in the evic.
Something??

Your truck has an EVIC (the little screen display thingy right in front of you in the gauge cluster area, for those who don't know), one of the available parameters will show your "DPF % gauge". When your truck does a regen, this screen will display "Automatic regeneration in progress" blah blah blah. That I'm aware of, this is the ONLY way provided by your truck that you'll know your truck is in regen-- you have to have that particular screen selected/displayed on the EVIC to see the alert. IMO, this is a big miss by Ram engineers. As important as DPF health is to most of us diesel owners there really needs to be an alert that shows up NO MATTER WHICH PARAMETER YOUR EVIC IS SET TO. I bought a Banks iDash monitor to keep an eye on this and other things.

Yes, on my 2020 did show this but my 2025 no longer details this message that your truck is in regen, the only way is by engine sound and smell.

I borrowed a couple of sentences out of your post "As important as DPF health is to most of us diesel owners there really needs to be an alert that shows up NO MATTER WHICH PARAMETER YOUR EVIC IS SET TO."

Absolutely!!!! There is a light for everything why not this. It's a vital very expensive part of the diesel motor now, it certainly doesn't need to be a hidden happening.

I've heard this said before, honestly I can't hear any difference in the motor and as far as smell going down the road all the smell is behind me and I'm driving away from it.

I can definitely hear a different tone while driving along. The smell is after I pull into my garage if it didn't complete the entire regen. I can smell it then not while driving, guess I should have stated this prior to post.

Xflight29, a different tone like its working harder or high pitched? I've been driving with the radio off for a bit and not heard "it". Not wanting to say but I guess I'm not that in tune with this truck just yet.

Sounds to me like a much lower groan. My 2020 hardly could tell when it was in regen unless you were looking at the dash.

Well that makes me feel a little better in that the upgrade from my 06 3500 5.9 cummins was to a 2020 6.7 cummins.

I have a 22 with 36000 miles and my regens for the past few weeks have become more frequent. On my dash gauge I will see 0% after a regen but within 50 miles or so no matter how I am driving the gauge will start to show a % clogged. This will continue till just under 50% and then go into regen again. Often under 300 miles of driving and under a few hours of driving. The time and mileage period is getting shorter and shorter. I have an appointment at the dealer on Wednesday. I can tell when a regen happens as I feel the truck running at a higher rpm when in town driving and my instant read mpg drops dramatically. This has lowered my over all best highway mpg average from over 22 mpg per tank fill to just over 18mpg per tank fill

I Regen a lot in the colder months, and I try not to drive the truck in short trips. The warmer months the truck Regen less often. I try not to have Regen anxiety about the whole thing.
Also, make sure you’re using the diesel additives, like archoil treatments. Trust me, it helps the Regen frequency.

When was the last time you towed something heavy or used Archoil 6400d?

There should be no difference in rpms during a regen vs not in a regen.

I tow my boat which is about 8000lbs around once month total drive is anywhere from 75-225 miles. The 75 mile route has a grade I cross twice about 10 miles in each direction.
I mis spoke about my engine rpm increasing. What I notice is when in town driving during a regen my truck sounds different. I notice the exhaust is louder especially noticeable when I come to a stop. I have not used any Archoil products in this truck, I used to in my 2003 6.0. I use FPPF Total Power as my fuel additive

Give archoil 6400d a try, it really does a great job cleaning DPF’s.

I noticed the shorter time, mileage regen frequency after bringing the truck in to the dealer for warranty recalls.
According to this attachment I need to confirm that I have the correct MAF sensor.
