AUX pass-thru wiring.

Id love any information you guys have on the other plug as I wouldn't need to cut up this other harness as I'm considering running power into my under bed boxes and it would be beneficial to just plug the harness in and have power to the back of the chassis when I get to that point.

It is ok to cut the harness. Just connect both ends to a bus bar. This will give you run/battery power in the cab, and you will still have run/battery at the back.

Does anyone know the part number for the auxiliary switch/upfitter wire kit that comes with the truck new for a 2019 2500? I bought the truck used and the kit was missing. I found someone posted the part number for a kit back 2-3 pages but it was for a 2020 and up. Would the wires be the same?

The wiring for 19+ is the same

19-20 are the same kit.

21+ will have an extra jumper for a pass-through wring connector you won't have. The grey jumper for the pass-through you DO have, will have an extra wire for an additional circuit you don't have. Otherwise the same. ;-)

I’m looking at a 2024 and one of the options it has is Auxiliary Switches Prep- yet this truck, a Limited, has that Trailering option with the Dial, and no place for aux switches.

So what’s the Aux Switch Prep?

Thank you for explaining the differences

The current switch pack is removed and replaced with what's pictured above, making them all push buttons

I didn’t know that this was an option!
Will dig further into the vehicle to see if fuses and relays are under the hood!

I wonder if for those of us with the trailer steering, if we could add a few switches below /beside/ above the 4WD selector.
The TRX has switches in there.
I just need 3 and might try to locate them below the 4WD logo.

It's entirely possible, as long as you use small-ish switches. There's a lot of room in that switch housing.

If only for the HD Rams they had done this.
Anything related to Traction/4WD etc., grouped in one area. Instead of all over the console.

I would like to see

2WD
4WD high
4WD low
Traction control
Hill Descent
Tow /Haul
Exhaust Brake

Then I would have 4 or Aux buttons like the Gas Engines with the Trailer control as pictured a few posts above.…. Maybe an engineer from RAM will read this???

$40 on EBay.
Looks like a good rainy day project to me! Pic of the backside. Once I get it and take it apart, I’ll know what I can fit. I plan to use digital switches or possibly the OEM ones. I only need 2, for my needs but will probably do 4 along the bottom.

They certainly missed an opportunity to put all traction related items in this switch.

Anyone have access to the upfitter diagrams for the 2024 model year? When I go to the website on the paper in the wiring bags, it says I need to register, but then wont allow me to register.

Same. IMO, it seems like a violation of purchase contract that a dealer will sell you the VSIM option, but the manufacturer denies you access to the instructions to use it.

I think you're conflating a few things.

The pass through circuit (G425) is on pin #5 VT/YE (Violet/Yellow) wire of the under dash upfitter connector. Yes, the blunt cut wire.

This pass through circuit G425 is available on Aux2 (light grey) pin 4.

You need to loop from whatever AUX# switch you want to use at the port under the hood back into G425 to bring the Aux switched power back into the cab.

Look at the diagram I've posted a link to (and posted again here) and just realize that my crayon coloring was only one example using AUX#6. You could loop any of the Aux switches to G425 (Aux2 (light grey) pin 4).

How is the loop accomplished? I have several short color coded wires with the spade/blade connector and black gasket that fit the gray plugs under the hood but on each of them, the other end is unterminated (just cut wire, nothing attached). It In order to loop the pass thru, wouldn't the jumper need to have a spade/blade connector on both ends?
Thanks for any insight.

Edit: I both found the answer in this thread and received a reply. For anyone else with the same question and having not found it immediately, the loop is accomplished by connecting/splicing two of the included pigtails together. Simple enough but wouldn't have been terrible if Ram included a jumper with the provided pigtails. -Although that could interfere with the color code.

You need to connect the two wires together.
