Hypothetical question about U5 8.4" Nav to U5 12" conversion

2024 ram 2500 diesel It's the u5 8.4 with navigation to the u512 inch navigation

Okay, leave the ignition on, press and hold both volume and tune knobs at the same time, hold for 10 seconds to send things into reboot mode.

When I did 8.4 Nav to 12 Nav in my 2024, after making the appropriate changes with AlfaOBD, the radio still required a hard reboot to have the display come on.

In your situation, the only thing you need to do is swap out the screen and center dash screen bezel. You would need screen part number 68526609AB, but 68526611AB will also work.
It would be a direct plug n play swap out, with no need to do anything with AlfaOBD, VIN, radio unlock code, or your existing radio module. You would still receive OTA updates.

Will 68526610AC work? I think it replaced the screen part numbers you provided

Did you install the conversion harness?
When you say "they" who are they? Radio installation place or? I bet it's just installation error for shops that haven't done these type of conversions. Try just leaving it overnight and see if it comes one the following day. Maybe as music logic mentioned..bcm learning

Yes in the shop they said it's the first time it's taken a long time the modem on 8.4 navigation and 12 navigation is the same and all the wiring is the same they said

Nope..going from(from what I read) you went from a 8.4 to a 12?

IIRC...You ARE going to need that custom harness to speak to the BCM..its going form a physical button environmental controls to a touch screen 12"

I'm asking them right now and they say you need the custom wiring if you have a 8.4 no navigation and if you have 8.4 with navigation it's completely the same as the 12 navigation it's plug and play that you don't have to do anything besides updating in the bcm the ics to not enabled and then dcsd to enabled mine is 8.4 navigation

I had them pulled out and that's what they had installed is that the correct screen or is that one for another vehicle

IIRC, that's a 1500 screen...I believe they are not compatible with the HD trucks.

I went to the dealer to see if they it was compatible and they said no that one was for 2025 1500 now the shop is having me wait on the that is supposed to take that sucks

eash...I figured this was the case....are you going to be able to exchange that screen? This forum has A LOT of info..just have to take the time to do the research and save you from heartache

They said that it was their mistake that they were ordering the other one is just installation lost alot of time

Sure, part number 6EZ155X9AE. I have a Night Edition so this bezel is the dark bezel with carbon fiber accent on top

what you could do is search google for a used truck for sale with that configuration, then use that VIN to find it on the mopar website.

They finally got it thanks to everyone they couldn't get it to turn on and finally pressing the power button and the tune at the same time it got it to work if you have a 8.4 navigation it's pretty much plug besides ics not enabled and the dcsd enabled they installed the p68526611ac and works perfectly fine and you also need the bezel
