2019 Ram 2500 6.4 squeal at start up / Chirping Noise - merged threads

Got under there with some wrenches, everything seemed pretty damn tight, but you know how those exhaust bolts go, so I’ve done all I am going to do for now. I tried feeling around for a leak while it was running, but can’t feel much of anything with gloves on and it gets too hot to fast without them. I’ll probably get through enough beers to motivate me to get under there again soon. Once I get something in my head I can’t let it go. It does seem like it is definitely on the driver side and just after the manifold, maybe the band clamps or the connection from the manifold to the exhaust, have no idea what kind of clamp that is.
 
Add another one to the list. I just picked up a special-order 3500 with a 6.4. Didn't make the sound when I picked it up, but a couple of days later I fired it up and it was making the squeal/chirp fairly loudly at idle.
 
Count me in, 2019 2500 Big Horn with the oh soo embarrassing squeal. Looks soo much better than it sounds.
 
Mine does it too at start-up but goes away rather quickly. Since it appears from reading other posts that it doesn't affect longevity, I guess it doesn't really bother me all that much. That being said VENO, I completely get where you are coming from. These trucks are HUGE expenses for most of us and we want them to be right! I cannot speak for others but I know I had to be willing to give up some things to be able to afford my truck.

Hey Mark,
I have a 2019 Ram Bighorn with 14k on it and the exhaust chirping must be addressed. I took it to the dealer and they where nice, but said it was normal. I filed a claim with FCA. What is the next step to resovle this issue?

YES! $50K for these trucks and more, they should sound like a Toyota! I can't speak to longevity, I can't find data on that, I am suspect though because something is warming up and sealing or stopping the noise. That would lend one to believe that there is a leak somewhere or something is having to heat up to stop the noise - expanding and contracting or even a bearing. That happens at every startup and I think if you get some miles on the truck, time will tell what breaks down in the future. Just don't know. What I do know is I have had 3 Fords and a Tundra and none of their motors did this. Smooth, quiet, and solid. 5.4 Triton, 3.5 ecoboost, and 6.2 V8, 5.7 V8. I have friends who have the 5.7 Dodge and it does not do this. Like I said earlier, it will take numbers to get their attention! Best. Veno

My 2020 sounds like a 20 year old truck when it starts up...My wife said the other day "Your truck looks great, but it sounds like a piece of Chit"
 
Mine has the Squeak at startup also...Probably my fault because I did not test drive it. Picked it up on a rainy day and with the windows up and did not hear it leaving the dealership.
 
Just tell them it’s a sleeper jalopy. On a serious note, the sound seems to change over time, I’m wondering if the noise will work itself out over time. Anyone with some real miles on their truck that had this go away on its own? When I say real miles, I’m talking over 50k or so. I always laugh when people are excited about their 20,000 trouble free miles, that should be a given, not a victory. I come from a world where if you got problems under 100,000 miles, I’d consider that a fail.
 
Eatonpcat - yep, its a shame, isn't it. The 6.4 runs strong after it warms up and stronger than the 6.2 Ford, but the Ford sounds so much nicer! Like I said earlier, we have to pool our numbers and make a case.
