Transmission noise on new truck.

I have a brand new '24 2500 6.7 that has developed a weird noise when I shift from park to drive for the first time after the truck has sat for ~10 minutes. I first noticed it when I was in a store for maybe 20 minutes. When I came out and went to leave it made this "Chirp" noise when shifting from park to drive. It doesnt do it park to reverse but it will do it reverse to drive if I first reverse then start to pull forward. now it does it every single time I start the truck and shift into drive. On top of this, I was under the truck and noticed my transfer case tail shaft seal is leaking. Anyone else had this noise before? Just super unfortunate on a truck that I've owned less than 2 weeks and has less than 1500 miles on it.

So the transfer case output shaft seal leak is a common one on the 24’s they must of had a bad run of seals. As far as the video I don’t know if it’s on my end or yours but I couldn’t get any audio out of it.
 
Thanks for letting me know it’s common. Hoping the dealer can get it fixed this week while I’m out of town.

Weird. When open the video link it has sound. There’s a mute button in the top right of the video

Mine has done this a few times, but I have only noticed it when I shift from reverse to drive and start to pull forward. Will be interested to hear what your dealer says. 21' 3500 SO with 68RFE.

Sound is there. There's a little speaker icon top right corner, I think by default they start muted so the icon would be crossed out. clock on it to un-mute.

Good to know I’m not the only one. Unfortunately mine does it pretty consistently. I’m hoping that will play into my favor with the dealer being able to diagnose it though. I’m headed out of town tomorrow so I’m hoping they can pick it up and work on it while I’m gone. I’ll update with what the say.

:D Thanks, sometimes I need a little extra help lol.. anyhow I don’t recall mine ever making that noise on my truck. My tractor does when I shift it from forward to reverse I just write it off as a valve shifting hydraulically. That being said we are not driving tractors down the road here so id have that checked out.

I'd be better off with the tractor! I'm hoping they don't write it off as "normal" and actually fix it. Just a pisser that I finally shell out the money for a new pick up and I can't get a few miles down the road without having to take it back.
 
so if im to understand from my observations, i believe its part of the hill assist stuff on these trucks. i may be super wrong. but i know if i shift from park to drive and take off to fast it has some resistance to keep you from drifting backwards.

i could be wrong.
 
I experience it fairly frequently, ever since new. Got to the point where I mentally tune it out and don't notice it.

I’ve had HSA off since day 1. I wish it was that.

Update: Got my truck back today after being at the dealer for 28 days. New transmission and new transfer case and it made the exact noise I took it in for after 10 miles of driving and stoping at the store.
 
My 2022 does this exact same thing. It has done it since new. 44K and still does it. Let us know any updates!

I’ve heard a few people saying that there’s has done it since new. I’m just not willing to pay 70k+ for a truck that sounds clapped out. I’m dropping it back off at the dealer Monday. I’ll update if anything changes but it’s looking like a quick lemon case.
 
My speakers aren't the best but sounds like suspension noise. With the truck in reverse, then shifting to 'forward' the loading of the suspension changes. Have someone outside the truck and listen to the front end and then the rear. Just a thought.

I doubt that would qualify as a lemon case but let us know the outcome.

It’s the trans. Apparently it’s a common problem. It did sort of sound like brake chatter when I first started hearing it but I narrowed it down to the trans with chassis ears.

I had that same chirp. You have to come to a Complete stop and press the brake in hard before shifting.
