Yeah, it will be just the wheel. You have to harvest whatever parts will swap from your current steering wheel, and add the audio controls (buttons) and new wiring harness to the new wheel.

So if we order 6WR76TX7AA we need all the above parts too, but if we order 6WR73TX7AA it comes with all the parts listed?

Confusion on this as some here felt R73 should come with the switches, above post says R73 is complete and R76 is just the wheel, but your initial post Bandit says you ordered R73 and it was just the wheel. So why such a price difference between the two part numbers?

You will need a new harness and switches no matter which steering wheel you go with. The reason for the difference in the price for the steering wheels is that one is a heated steering wheel and the other is not.

So pretty much finished this project today………..I say pretty much finished cuz my dumb a** installed the switches on the wrong sides! The good news is all the controls work but are upside down and backwards!

All right, 1st time was just practice . Happy to report she’s all fixed up and amazingly everything works right, woohoo!

Few observations and tips 1) it really is a short distance to engage the spring, don’t get all gung ho and go jamm’n in there like a rookie 2) use the shorter screws supplied for the bezels on the backside, I didn’t at first and I noticed the originals caused a tiny bit of gap around the shroud from being too long. No big deal but I’m a little OCD 3) I couldn’t get the dadgum airbag back on to save my life, one side would engage but not both. After using every swear word I knew and being an idiot for 30 minutes or so I used to old nogg’n to rectify the situation. Using a paper towel I VERY LIGHTLY applied silicone spray to the catches on each side (I do mean lightly and very little). The springs rides down the “ramp” on the catches and “pops under” to hold the airbag, the tiny bit of silicone made reinstallation a breeze.

I can not for the life of my get the airbag out. Right side I have popped loose twice now but no luck on the left. Just can feel a spring thing and pushing it but nothing happens. Spent nearly an hour at it.

I had the same problem, you’ll get it. Once I had one side free I found I kept going in too far trying to get the other side, took me about an hour to get the air bag out the first time.

Done. No trick to it. Just time. Patience. Pick a tool (t15 screwdriver for me) and just keep at it. Took 2 hrs easy to swap this switch.

You sent me on the right path, I ended up finding a used steering wheel with everything for much less on Ebay.

Now reading through the thread I’m seeing a new harness is needed, what’s the scoop on that why can’t we reuse the existing? I think that’s the last thing I need to order.

The original harness doesn't have the connectors for the newly added switches.

Makes sense, now realizing how dumb of a question that was. Okay ordering that now as well. Then on to watch some videos of airbag removal, sounds like some of you guys had a heck of a time. Thanks again!

Yeah not looking forward to the airbag! Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think I need the switch bezels based on what I got, the wheel is all assembled. See attached pics.

The only weird thing is I’m seeing a part number
6NK861X7AC which obviously isn’t the one listed in this thread and when I plug it into Google I get no results. So really hoping this will work. It’s from a wrecker and says 2019-2022 Ram 2500.

ah yah you got the whole wheel. missed that, my fault.

if you watch the infotainment install video, it'll show you how to remove it. I had good luck using a small extened length allen wrench.

Hi All. I have another question. Parts supplier just got back to me and said wiring harness doesn’t match my VIN. Guessing because mine didn’t come stock with audio controls. They are suggesting 68449246AA.

Just confirming 100% that 68449274AA is the one we need to make it happen?
