Adding OEM Heated Steering Wheel and Seats

I am still confused as to why you needed a new clock spring. Was it for the heating function? Or for the radio buttons, too?

I think for every function that was added with the wheel swap. I guess that's where the options terminate the easiest.. and cheapest lol

Reason I asked is i did this swap on my 2015 tradesman. I found a leather steering wheel with audio controls and I swapped it over using my original clock spring. I didn't have to buy a new clock spring.

You need the new clockspring to power the heated steering wheel. Your tradesman clock spring does not have the heated wheel pigtail coming off the clock spring to power it.

Does anyone know if the 1500 wheels are a direct swap? I much prefer the button layout from my 1500 to the 2500...I'm sure I'll get used to it with time but getting the heated wheel back would be incredible.

It's awesome knowing a tradesman had the wiring already, makes me hopeful that it will be easy to add some of these options.

Okay I got the clock spring installed and the heated wheel works with no additional wiring. Once I get the center stack installed I will update again. Here are the part numbers I ordered.

Clock Spring - 68425689AA
Center Stack - 68370125AB (this is for manual climate controls with an 8.4 screen)
Can you upload a photo of center stack. Trying to find part number for heated and vented seat option with anti spin button also. Thanks.

No the 1500 wheels cant be used the buttons are not going to work and the splines are different

Got the center stack installed. Everything is working 100% factory with no additional wiring.
Did the heated seats and wheel work without the center stack? If so i would do the swap and not change the center stack

I found a used one on eBay and got the P/N from the pictures on the listing. Finding the right part numbers is a royal pain and I searched for days on the clock spring and guessed correctly.

Hi all, I have a lonestar optioned with premium cloth buckets and the leather steering wheel…what else is need to add the heated features?

Seats and a steering wheel from a truck with heated seat and heated wheel plus the clock spring

I wonder if the alfa would work on Uconnect 5…have a 2022 Ram 1500 Bighorn with no heated seats, plain center and no radio section for Climate Control (pictured). Would love to add the center console with those buttons and have it wired to work.

Yes it does but you are going to have better luck in the 1/2 ton forums like 5thgenrams… this site is for big boy trucks lol

I tried messaging the OP on this but looks like he hasn’t been active for some time. In this thread he says he was able to add the heated steering wheel to his truck and he didn’t need a different wire harness. I’ve sourced a heated wheel and the correct clock spring, but I don’t want to remove my steering wheel if the correct wiring isn’t there.

The reason I ask is on infotainment’s site they have a steering wheel kit just to add the audio controls and it comes with a different wire harness that shows it also has the pigtail for heated wheel. Are they just selling something they don’t need, or do I need that wire harness? Any help is appreciated

Here is what I have gathered in order to add heated & ventilated front seats ("cushion" refers to the ass cushion, "back" refers to back cushion). This is for replacing/adding each individual part of the seat rather than replacing the entire seat:

For ventilated seats, you'll need 2 of each of these parts (1 for each seat):
- Cushion blower
-- 68366262
- Back blower
-- 68366263
- Cushion ventilation bag
-- 68362099
- Back ventilation bag
-- 68362098
You do not need the blowers if you do not want ventilated seats and only want heated seats, and you will need the heating elements instead of the bags that are for the seats that are heated AND ventilated. The heating element is part of the "bag" you need for ventilated seats, so you only need the 1 part for both heated & ventilated seats. It is different part numbers for heated seats only.

For the below, I'm honestly not sure if these are the same part numbers for heated seats only, as most of my research has been for heated & ventilated seats. The "covers" (the leather or cloth skin on the seat) are the most expensive part of this, and I'm trying to avoid it if I can. I spent about $1200 CAD on all 4 foams, blowers, and bags. The covers themselves are about $800 CAD each, and you need 4 of them. If you do choose to get new covers, looks like leather is the only option for ventilated seats, but there may be other ones for heated seats only. I'm still in the process of seeing if I can get heated & ventilated seats to work in my existing cloth seats. Thanks to @01Time for the help with these and all the part numbers. Here is that post, as well as post # 305 two below. In reference to his providing the parts lists, these are the ones with the CAJ sales code (Seats - Ventilated Front).

Driver seat:
- Cushion foam 68454359
- Back foam 68454185
- Cushion cover
-- 7BA61BD3 leather, black
-- 7BA61HL1 leather, mountain brown light frost beige
- Back cover
-- 6XU25BD3 leather, black
-- 6XU25HL1 leather, mountain brown light frost beige
- Wiring (working on part numbers)
-- Comfort Seat and Wheel Module (CSWM)
--

Passenger seat:
- Cushion foam 68454358
- Back foam 68454184 - can confirm that this foam is a slightly different shape than my original foam (can't find a part number on my original one, but it's a manual adjust, no heat/vent seat)
- Cushion cover
-- 6XU26BD3 leather, black
-- 6XU26HL1 leather, mountain brown light frost beige
- Back cover
-- 6XU24BD3 leather, black
-- 6XU24HL1 leather, mountain brown light frost beige
- Wiring
-- My 2019 2500 big horn has a fully populated wiring harness under the passenger seat for supply to the seat (truck side), which tells me all trucks are fitted with the wiring up to the seat
-- On the seat side, my original wiring harness is PN 68395871. There's 6 wires coming out of the big main yellow connector, and 4 connectors after that: seat belt sensor, seat occupancy sensor, air bag, and one connected to a dummy connector. I'm trying to figure out how there are 6 wires attached to the big yellow connector, but 8 between the other 4 connectors...

I am initially only planning on tackling the seats and enabling the options with AlfaOBD, so I'm not sure about radio bezels. Also, because of only tackling seats, these numbers are just pulled from one of the previous replies:

Parts required for heated steering wheel:
Clock spring: 68425689
Center stack: 68370125 (this is for manual climate controls with an 8.4 screen) Not sure if this has heated/ventilated seat controls.

Please let me know if any of this is incorrect, as it will help me with my projects as well!

Good luck mate, I was literally watching for a leather heated steering wheel since I bought my truck back in Nov of 2019. I would type in 19 or 20 ram steering wheel in eBay and have to filter through the 1500 wheels. I was almost tempted to try a 1500 wheel and see if it would work on the 2500 but I lucked out and found one from a 2500. Check car-part, eBay, and lkqonline, daily. Wheels do show up on these sites but they are gone fast.

Have to give @Jimmy07 a shout out for helping me get the missing AlfaObd settings.

I now have working heated seats in my tradesman. The soft keys are present in the 8.4 radio and I can turn the seats on and off. Once I get the clock spring installed I will update the thread and let you all know if the steering wheel works. So far I have added no wiring to my truck it has all been plug and play.

I was missing these additional settings to the list above that Jimmy07 helped me with.

Memory front heated seat present- YES

Seats B front heated seat levels- 3 LEVEL (high/med/low/off)

Cabin Net Comfort Seat Wheel Module- ENABLED
After a bit of a battle I got this job done. I got the heated seats from a big horn along with the correct steering wheel and clock spring. I made all of the changes in alfaobd that are listed in the two posts I quoted and the climate settings never showed up in my connect system.

I contacted Jimmy07 and he had me turn on the auto climate control setting in alfaobd, and after that the climate app showed up. I was then able to use the heated seats and wheel with the touch screen. However after that I was only able to control my climate settings on the screen and they didn’t work properly because I didn’t have my truck set up for auto climate yet.

After installing the wire harness and sensors for auto climate, and the necessary center stack that had the auto controls and heated seats and wheel everything works as it should.

So long story short if you are only looking to add heated seats and wheel, but keep your manual climate controls I’m not sure what needs to be done. Because doing what was outlined in this thread didn’t work for me.
