TPMS (TIS) sensors for trailer (SOLVED - see 1st post) aka TTPMS - Trailer TPMS

You'll want two schrader valves. One to fill/release/check and one to put the sensor on.

I thought about doing that as I have some metal bolt in valves I never installed on the trailer wheels, and plenty of PVC parts, but resigned myself to the OEM ID code needing to be within range.

I'll wait to see if this works before building one.

We'll expect a report by Saturday afternoon.

I noted that the MOPAR trailer sensors were made in the UK as was the TIM. I assume same vender. Wonder if there is a proprietary thing going on between the TIM and the sensors?

Another thing I noticed doing some browsing -- some Mopar tire sensors are actually 433.92mhz, and it looks like some have a 434mhz label? Still guessing it's an ID problem, and that programmers like Autel assign a manufacturer-specific ID to them when installing and setting them up.

My TIM said Made in China on it.

MOPAR sensors paired no issue. 1mi of driving and all the pressures showed. Had the tires mounted and balanced at Discount Tire for $20 per. Turns out the factory didn’t balance the tires so I am better off now than I was.

Sorry, true. Made in China by a UK supplier. Both outer bags indicated UK. My TIM says Made in China on the box too.

Got it, interesting, globalization is funny sometimes. So if we knew the UK vendor, the thought would be a generic made by them might work? Do you have any closeup shots of the bags? Didn’t keep mine. I like that pressure vessel idea because I could try a few without installing and be able to return them.

I think the pressure vessel idea is genius.

Did some random searching, found that the FCC code is registered to Schrader, which is pretty obvious since it says that right on the sensor :) Schrader Electronics is a UK company, so there's our vendor. What I can't find though, looking through Schrader's site, is a matching part number. I found RAM and Chrysler numbers that are close, though nothing spot on.

I think we're a bit stuck? It seems like there are universal TPMS sensors out there, however, you need to have a programmer to be able to assign them to your make/model, which I believe is assigning the proper ID and signal for them to be recognized by the TPMS system. Anybody know someone that works at a tire shop that can confirm this?

It's been posted several times through the thread and initially summarized by @thestuarts here.

Since we can't seem to get the OP or a mod to post the part numbers in the first post, here they are again:

PARTS REQUIRED TO ADD TTPMS to 2019+ RAM HD TRUCKS

TTPMS bumper receiver: 68375990AC (Avg cost ~$70)
TIM headliner module: 68404893AB (Avg cost ~$70)
TIM Pigtail cable: 68412666aa (Avg cost ~$9)
The kit for the TPMS sensors (4) for trailer wheels is 68433188AA (best price I've seen posted not too far back in the thread @ $146)

Most of these parts are currently out of stock everywhere thanks to this thread.

You will need to install the hard parts. @Phil T excellent instructions pdf here.

You will need to have the sales code option enabled by the dealer (unlikely) or use AlphaOBD, an ELM327 Bluetooth OBD2 reader, and a security bypass cable (KaodTECH recommended) to recode the BCM. There's a giant AlphOBD thread here.

Turning on the TTPMS option in the EVIC thanks to @g00fy : https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/tpms-tis-sensors-for-trailer.232/post-20366

For the 2019 trucks, you will need to use the Windows version and select the MY2020 under advanced - also thanks to @g00fy

He also suggested enabling "P/T chassis net: TTPM" Which I also did. Unsure if this matters but it didn't cause any problems I'm aware of. The TTPMS setup docs may indicate that this is necessary:
"The TTPM sends the information to the TIM via the Controller Area Network-Chassis (CAN-C) to be transmitted to the IPC."

This particular post should be a sticky. For those that haven't been following this thread and looking for this information, it will save quite a bit of time searching.

Just spoke to Minder and they said their sensors although being on exact same frequency that the Mopar ones, their sensors will only communicate with their receivers and repeaters to the app or screen depending on which you buy. It’s the way it’s written to communicate with each device is what he said. So guess I will be taking Rv tires off and having discount tire install and balance each tire for $20 per tire. Then system will be complete. That’s if they can fill them with Nitrogen.

I don't think Discount Tire does nitrogen, they're against it as a company. The guy I talked to about it said they want people to come in monthly to check pressure and so that they can check tread depth.

I'm a nitrogen believer from my racing days, and when you watch your TPMS, nitrogen just doesn't move as much as an air-filled tire, especially when towing.

I go to Costco to get my nitrogen conversion and top-offs.

Correct, just called them, my closest nitrofill dealer is a few Chevrolet dealerships.

Does anyone have a copy of AlfaOBD version 2.1.8.0? @Phil T wrote his instructions for that version, but version 2.2.0.0 is what is currently available. I can't get AlfaOBD version 2.2.0.0 to commit the TPM setting change. I have the kaodtech security bypass installed, and I can see all of the settings, but it fails to write every time.

You're using the Windows version?

I am replying to my own question with an update.

I should have checked this first, but I was actually able to enable the "VehConfig 8-Trailer TPM" and "P/T chassis net: TTPM" settings with my Android version of AlphaOBD version 2.1.8.0 connected to an OBDLink MX+ using the Body Control Module MY2019 configuration.

I didn't need to use the PC version of AlphaOBD, and I didn't have to spoof MY2020.

I believe there is a problem with AlphaOBD version 2.2.0.0 because it can't read all of my system IDs like version 2.1.8.0 can.

More and more lately, it seems like every update for both versions, something “breaks” on one or the other. Next update, there’ll probably be an issue with Android version.
For the system ID- before he added MY2019-20, they used to populate nice and organized with the sections (VehConfig 1:, VehConfig 2:, VehConfig 3:, etc). After that update to ad 2019+, it would just populate the list of settings without being broken into sections. We requested him to fix that, so maybe he’s got something weird going on with the system ID/Status after trying to fix it.
