Seeing a lot of recent premature failures on the Aisin transmissions in 2022 trucks. Seems to be centered around trucks built around half way through the production run. All of the ones I’ve seen have lost all forward and retained reverse. Trying to get a grasp on what’s going on with these as I have a 22 Aisin truck (built 10/9/21).
If you have info, or have experienced a failure I’d like to hear about it.

MOD: Respondents are asked to post any updates to tracking or details in the other (active) thread here:

Mine failed December 15th 2022. Was built around the middle of July 2022 and took delivery August 15th 2022. I had 5050 miles on it and lost forward drive. Took them about three weeks to send us a transmission and it should be installed later this week.

And from what I’m seeing is they have low miles on them and are basically brand new trucks.

Crazy thing I was just coming here to post this same thing.

And at least mine gave no warning. No strange shifts, no lights… towed fine to work, wouldn’t go into gear to go home.

I’ve seen some people mention a failed seal or snap ring possibly. Just wondering how many units are involved with these type failures.

Same here. I have seen multiple references to failed snap rings or o-rings (uncertain which one). I was hoping someone with concrete knowledge would jump in here and give us some more info

Great, I'm already replacing the front diff at 2,000 miles now I have this to look forward to at 5,000. I'm planning a road trip across the entire country and back this spring and thought I'd hedge myself with a brand new truck so I wouldn't have to worry. Well now I'm worrying I'll be stuck somewhere in BFE with a lemon of a truck that has a full-sized camper slid into the bed. Oh well, this is the world we have all built.

Yep. Truck is supposed to arrive the 19th and drive 700 miles back home. I guess I’ll cross this bridge if I can swallow these high interest rates that I’m sure will get me.

It would be nice to get some build dates from guys that have had issues. Maybe it’s just a small sample of trucks and not all 2022’s. I’ve posted my build date everywhere I’ve complained about my tranny, but so far no one has.

I'm July 22, 2022, pretty much the same as you.

I agree. I was hopeful we could use this thread as the platform for that information. I do believe, based on what I’ve seen thus far, it is an issue specific to a certain timeframe in the build year. The mid to late-made trucks seem to be where the issue lies so far.

If everyone would like, I would be happy to start making a spreadsheet with basic failure info. I’m by no means at the level of @OfficerDirtySanchez but I can at least help to document and compile info. Truck order date, truck Build date, miles at the time of failure, truck configuration, …..what other info would be pertinent?

That would be awesome. I think the only configuration that matters might be cab size and 4x4 or not (if that exists). Not sure anything else might effect the failure. I also think it would be good to have an idea of how “worked” the truck was. On my side, about 60% of my mileage is towing.

My truck is awaiting a new Aisin. '22. Build date around August. I posted details of my failure in the other thread on this site.

Actually found this site searching for others with same problem.

I will add you to the sheet. Just making sure you did not comment on any Facebook posts I made requesting info correct? I’m trying not to duplicate date. If you can get me an exact build date, the mileage at the time of failure, and a brief explanation of what happened that would be helpful.

Also, which other thread? That way I can contact members there.
