Recall VB6 - 2019 DJ D2 Diesel Engine Calibration

Do you have any suggestions? Love the truck but, I don’t want to be stuck with engine damage because of what they did to it. It’s only got 7k on it....

Your truck sounds like mine does at warm up. Are you sure you have the latest update 52401932AH? Mine was updated from 52401932AF to 52401932AG and it sounds like yours. I'm hoping that the latest update will fix it. I haven't had time to schedule it to go in for the latest calibration update yet which should be 52401932AH.

Yeah just has the recent calibration idk if they messed up on it or what but it still knocks and now it surges under moderate acceleration from 50to60mph. You can watch the boost gauge and see under acceleration it goes 8psi to 6 and back and forth till your in the higher rpms

Well that is too bad. I will update my experience once I get my truck updated. Hopefully it fixes mine.

I agree with @Cody. My truck idled very rough while 52401932AG was installed. The idle smoothed out when 52401932AH was installed.

I have our truck scheduled for the 52401932AH update tomorrow morning. So Thursday morning I should know if it improves the cold start issue.

Interested to see the update.

Looks like there are two of them. I’ll have to see how ya like it then schedule the latest update.

I haven’t done any to my truck and it’ll be a year in July.

Do you have the paperwork the dealer gave you? It should show the firmware version installed after the update. It would be good to confirm you have 52401932AH because maybe you have an even newer version (like 52401932AI) that runs rough like 52401932AG.

OK, so now there's an AI version that "runs rough?"

Sure would be nice to know what is in my truck without having to go to the dealer. The cold start idle on this thing is rough.

I took delivery 3-10-20 but have no idea if the dealer (or plant) put in the AH code.

Sorry, I only posited that as a hypothetical. I meant, imagine AG runs rough, AH runs smoothly, and they just released a new AI that runs rough. That's why I was asking Cody if his paperwork had the version. I apologize for the FUD.

Has anyone on here with an HO/Aisin, AND who pulls tall, heavy >15K lbs had this recall performed? I have never seen a diesel emissions recall that didn't reduce performance AND mpg, so reports of better mpg are amazing to me.

I'm certainly wishing They hadn't updated my truck. I dropped ours off this morning and inquired about going back to 52401932AF and they said they can't revert back to a previous calibration. I really am not happy at all with 52401932AG. Hopefully the 52401932AH is a improvement!

Took mine in today for this recall stuff, got a loaner and drove all the way back home only to get a phone call 4 hours later saying they wont be able to get to it today.

So sorry to hear this. Did they reschedule? Feel free to let us know if you need any help scheduling an appointment.

Recall done last Friday and first impressions unloaded and loaded completed today. 625 miles unloaded with cross headwinds for about 300 miles averaged the same MPG as before. Delivered 14,700 lbs Jayco North Point 412 miles today. Light wind with average temperature of 33 , MPG about the same as before. The noticeable difference was how the transmission shifted up and down. It doesn’t bang shift anymore and it locks the TC quicker during shifts. With EB set on auto, it was not as aggressive to slowdown when lifting the accelerator until you hit the brakes. Nicely done update and one of the first that was not a letdown. Updates on my 03, 09, 12 and 16 never seemed to work to my advantage, same complaints as everyone else had. Reduce power to compensate for something else. 42,000 miles since January 10th and this truck just keeps making me smile.

I can't give any real update yet. But our update was done this morning and we picked it up at about 5:30 tonight. Not exactly cold start but it definitely started and was much less noisy and smoother than it had been with the AG calibration. Tomorrow morning will be a better tell. It looks to be a better solution at this point. I'll update tomorrow and then measure hand calculated mpg and responsiveness etc. We haven't towed "heavy" with the AG calibration but we have towed our 14-15k lbs 13' tall 36' long trailer on the AF calibration and we will be towing the same with this latest AH calibration soon. We have a triple axle 20k 5th wheel on order so that's next.

I haven't driven it yet but cold start is much better with the AH calibration. I'll report back on mpg and other driving differences.
