U Connect 5 Radio Presets Keep Disappearing

Welp, my truck sat for about a week and a half while I was on vacation, and the presets were there when I first started it. Parked it after 15 minutes of driving, and after 10 minutes of sitting, I started it again and the Sirius presets were gone and the theme reset to the default. *Sigh*. I also noticed that the shortcuts bug out when it resets the presets. my truck goes into the dealer for its first service here soon, it will be interesting to hear what they say.

I was hoping the latest update would fix it. At least yours did an OTA update, I have been driving my truck daily and it still has not performed the latest update. I have it linked to my home Wi-Fi and I also drive around with my phone synced through Bluetooth. Please let us know what the dealer says.

Put your vehicle into the ON or ACC position and perform the following--

Go to “Vehicle Settings” then select “ System
Information” and look for “Version Information”

How do you link it to your home wifi? I was looking around wondering if it was possible. I do not see any options anywhere in wifi hot spot

side note, took truck to dealer yesterday for the preset problem, they did a reset on the radio and thats all they can do, they said its a known problem and they are coming out with a update to fix it.

From home screen select vehicle
Scroll down to Software Updates and select it
There should be an option for Software updates over Wi-Fi
Once you select it the system will perform a scan of all local Wi-Fi networks

I did find a bug in mine in the update before this newest one. It did not want to reconnect to the same network after the update. After a bunch of fiddling, I had to change the network I was connecting to. I have not had to try it after this latest update. Also @RamCares I PM'd you the version information you asked for.

Finally received an OTA update today, looks like the same version posted earlier. Based on his response I have little faith on the presets holding.

Still nada on the uConnect site for my connected services deleted truck and I don't feel like bothering with the dealer at the moment since it's not time for one of my free oil changes yet. If those of us with connected services deleted trucks are going to be stuck going to the dealers for updates (We don't even have to option to join to wifi for updates or at-least mine doesn't) I'll probably replace the damn thing once the aftermarket is all sorted for full retention of the cameras and such.

2nd drive with new updates and back to default theme, lol. On a positive note, my Android Auto seems to load quicker.

Finally got my truck into the dealer, they flashed it with a new software, and told me if it does it again, they'll replace the radio. So far so good. I can say that with the OTA update a month or so back, it went a lot longer between issues. I will update if that changes, but so far so good!

Glad to hear yours is better. Unfortunately, mine is worse with the latest OTA update. Every third start my theme reverts back to default. I have not tried programming any presets but maybe that issue is resolved. I prefer the dark background so its frustrating to see the white one every third power cycle. I do prefer the larger fonts on the 8.4 screen and overall the system seems less laggy than before.

This is such an odd issue. Mine hasn't reset the theme or menu labels in forever, but almost every time I start it the presets do something different. And the fine folks at UConnect support have stopped responding after I called their bluff on their statement of no OTA updates are available by sending them pictures from this thread. I finally have an appointment this Friday at the dealership, we'll see what updates they can come up with.

I spoke too soon. As soon as I went to lunch after posting my latest update, my presets were gone. Just the SXM ones. I reset them up, stopped to get fuel, they were gone again. Set them up again, went back to work. Left work, and the SXM presets were all gone again. I set them up again, and they've stayed for the last 3 ignition cycles... Dealer said next step is to replace the radio unit.

What I don't understand is why would the physical radio need to be replaced? This seems like a software/coding bug issue - not a hardware/component problem. Could a bad component, a lousy solder joint, a defective circuit board, etc cause an application to lose presets? It seems that enough of these 'fixes' end up being a radio replacement, so why isn't a TSB created if it's a hardware problem? Can't Stelantis - hey Ram Cares! - either admit there's a software problem and they are working on a specific solution, or they have no idea what the problem is so please be patient? Possibly ignorant questions, but reasonable ones I think. Good grief, this losing-presets problem has been going on since the fabulous UConnect-5 came out, or at least since I joined this forum back in Nov '21.

The build number that you've provided to us was 141.01.12, the latest update that you were talking about was 145.00.15 per TSB: 08-160-22, which was released on Aug 20th. Have you tried doing a soft reset after the recent update?

Dealerships do not really troubleshoot problems, they simply change out the most likely component. This is from inexperienced techs and the dealer is out to make money! They make more off warranty work by shot gunning parts than they would troubleshooting the issue. I feel its definitely a software issue since the latest update has amplified my issues tremendously and many of us are having the same exact issue.

Yes, performed multiple resets with no joy. Do you know if FCA has acknowledged this as as an issue? If so, is there an ETA for a updated software version? If they have determined there is indeed a hardware issue (radio) I will take mine in for warranty work...... please advise.

Hello William - will you please provide a link to TSB: 08-160-22 released on Aug 20th that you reference? I can not find that particular TSB on https://www.tsbsearch.com/
