Recall VB6 - 2019 DJ D2 Diesel Engine Calibration

I have the HO, and received the recall in the mail yesterday also. Looked at my Mopar page, and it is not listed.

If you live in California, you will have no choice but to do the recall. You can not register or renew a registration of a vehicle if there is an open recall.

VB6 is definitely for the HO with AISIN. Not the transmission issue. I just received my recall notice today for my 2019 3500 HO with Aisin. My problem with it is they say they will reprogram the PCM but they give no indications on what that reprogramming will do to performance or mileage.
Hey, labjr1. For any questions regarding this, we do recommend discussing with your dealership team.

I will not allow the diesel engine calibration on mine, they did one on my 2015 I believe and my mileage went from 19 to 15 mpg. They need to get this stuff worked out before they sell them, why buy a truck with an expectation only to have Ram detune or reduce the capability.

We do recommend having this recall addressed as soon as you can, startrek. If you'd like assistance at any time, please contact us via private message.

I got a pcm update a couple of weeks ago. It's worse now. Engine surges runs very rough at cold start and seems a little lower on power and mpg. Hopefully this update is newer than what I got!

I got the letter today. Aside from emissions compliance, I want to know if this is going to reduce performance and/or MPG. I paid for 1K ft/lbs, 400 HP, and that's what I expect, and this thing is already hard enough on fuel and DEF. I don't want to end up like the poor Ecodiesel owners whose trucks turned into dogs after the reflash. Until I know more I will not be bringing mine in.

^same here. Got it today and I am sure dealer will do at same time as tranny fluid one in a couple of weeks but want to know if it will hurt mpg......I don’t want a de-tuned truck....that’s why I left the ecodiesel and went hemi then now in Cummins.....

Very little details as to what this vb6 recall does!

Seems there's one saying no butt dyno change, one saying there is.

Be amazing if someone with a broken in truck did a before/after real or even a simulated dyno.

I realize it will be a bit before anyone can report any MPG changes.

I'm hosed because I pick up my new truck tomorrow and won't have a clue.

While my truck was waiting to be built there was a rumor swirling of a production delay due to waiting for EPA compliance. Production then seemed to spool up anyway. Did they get a waiver to build them and fix it later? Did they get approval, and then not meet the spec? I think there's monkey business going on here, sorry.

okay, so was told parts would be no problem, as of friday
last week. get in to my appt this morning and the service writer
acted like i was crazy to think parts where avail for the recall.

these guys are circus clowns. no update on when parts will be
shipped to dealers, as some / most of you have read, parts are
on restriction.

i also asked about the emissions flash, and there are no details in
the system on what that entails, according to said service writer.

For any specific questions regarding this, we do recommend asking your dealer, Omarf4. However, via the Owner's Letter: "The engine control software in your vehicle must be modified with a new calibration to improve emission control performance." To clarify, have you visited the dealer yet to have the recall performed? If not, we recommend doing so. Send us a private message if you need assistance.

That's what the dealer said. The recalls are scheduled pending parts (tranny fluid fire recall). My concern is with the "improve emissions control performance".... how is that being done exactly? Restricting fuel flow? Changing air/diesel mixture? Reducing injector flow? Increasing compression cycle to reduce combustion gases?

What exactly is being done to improve (lower) emissions?

I took it back in and they supposedly opened some ticket with FCA. I haven't heard of any resolution yet.

Understood, Dialed-In. That said, we recommend continuing to work with your dealer team moving forward.

Evidently the update they did to my PCM was this emissions update. Now it runs very rough and shakes the truck at cold start worse than ever. My average mpg seem to be getting worse as well. It has been averaging 15mpg hand calculated and yesterday hand calculated average for the same driving was 13mpg. Just keeps getting worse.
